Hi,
I was wondering if any members here have the late model McCulloch 895C? This is the one with the poppet valve decomp (like the SP125), and not the older style DSP lever system.

I have seen a number of the 895's around but never the later style 895C.

Would be great to see some pics if anyone has one of these behemoths!

Regards,

Chris.

In a nut shell,

How is the pop up designed?

Hi Matt,

The valve is a back seating valve - you manually push the valve in to lift it off its seat, and then proceed to start the saw. When the saw fires, the valve is automatically closed against its seat - thereby enabling full compression in the cylinder.

One thing with this system - if the saw fires but does not run, you must manually open the decomp valve each time by pushing the button. Failing to do so will mean pulling against the full compression of the engine.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Chris.

It is basically the same valve configuration as what the new Stihl and Husqvarna saws use.

Bit slow to the Mac thing.
What form are you guys referring to this as?
I saw the discussion in the mac thread and Lee's pic's.

Thanks guys!

Hi Matt,

These are all forms of the DSP - de stroking port. The poppet valve type was used on the later model saws such as the SP125/105, 895C and many of the smaller models of McCulloch saws.

The lever type (as in your photo) was the earlier DSP system as used on the large saws such as the 795, 797, CP125, and 895 models.

Regards,

Chris.

Hi,
Matter of fact I do, I have an 895C which is brand new. With a 35 inch bar and chain. It’s been tested three times on a log and that’s the only time it’s been used. I can send pictures.
