If you have a ten series with electronic ignition, just see if the coil will fit. If so, you should be good to go with a similar coil. If not, you may have to do some modification. There may be some old posts in the MAC thread about modern alternatives. Ron
 
Go to the McCulloch thread. Then the search function, type in Ryobi and click search this thread only. You should get a bunch of hits on using the coil from Ryobi string trimmers.

The bolt pattern for that coil matches the points ignition block.

I have not seen an electronic coil that fits that block configuration. You should be able to use a point ignition coil with one of the electronic chips to replace the points, or see if that saw does in fact have the points behind the flywheel.
