When I was a teenager, grandad, dad, and I cut a dead red oak up on the bluff. It was in pretty close to other trees, so dad was looking up to check for hangers and widowmakers. A stub about two inches thick and a foot or so long got knocked off as the trunk went by another tree. It hit him just left of the bridge of the nose, about half inch below the left eye. Drove him to his knees. It was geysering blood pretty good. Took a few stitches and whole face was black and blue for weeks. Not sure the face screen would have saved him, but it mightve slowed it down a bit. Always wear the hardhat and glasses when felling. Glasses anytime. Earplugs most of the time. Guilty of running the Homies and Macs for short bursts with no plugs in. Love the sound. Guess I need to keep the plugs in if I want to keep hearing it huh?
Always wear muffs with the rifles and handguns. Guilty of not using with shotguns in the dove field. Cant hear the callers.

Just get electric muffs to hear the callers. I can't believe people hunt without them you can crank the gain up so you can hear the ticks fart a quarter mile away.

So you’re saying these electronic ear muffs will actually help you hear deer coming your direction???

What did you say?

I’m going def I never wore hearing protection. Ear muffs on a hardhat wasn’t my thing.

But I would go in the pit in the shop and listen to my big block Chevy drag race engine with open headers. It was music listening to it.

The motorcycles didn’t help too.

Not a fan of the plugs but love the muffs, I wear them all the time. Once in a while for a quick cut I spare them, not saying that’s ok because it isn’t. But I do it occasionally

The husky black muffs were relatively inexpensive and are very comfortable. I never did get into the helmet Apparatus as I wear safety glasses too. Got tired of getting sawdust in my eyes and whatnot so now I never leave home without glasses and muffs :)

Noise cancelling muffs with bluetooth compatibility for me. Listen to music and I know when my phone rings. I wear them all the time....in the shop, mowing, splitting, cutting, or while I'm sanding at work.

Oh lord. Wait till Harley reads that.

Yes they do, they amplify the sound somewhat if you turn them up all the way. I used a pair once and it was definitely an advantage. Great to have for shooting and hunting. Bring spare batts if you want to use em on full in your stand, and if it ain’t too windy a day I bet they will give you an edge

Thanks guys, I’ll definitely be investing in some if these. Although I’m sure those flippin squirrels will be driving me crazy. I swear they can make you think a big buck is rigs behind you, you spend 2 minutes turning around as slooowwwe as possible only to realize it’s a tree rat!!!

I worked a commercial sawmill and the sound level was deafening, literally. I wore both the earmffs and the foam inserts. For saws/weedwackers I wear a helmet with muffs and the foam inserts.

There was a guy who had worked in the commercial mill a few years with no hearing protection. He acquired the nickname "Zombie", as speaking to him had no effect.
