090 bar on a 660?

Looking at some used bars being sold that were run on a stihl 090. Can you run a bar designed for an 090 on a stihl 660? Are the studs and bar oil location / size compatible?

Nope. I have no idea if there's an adapter, but the original studs are not the same size.

Yes I have seen it done, but not a reasonable choice. 090 setups are for large mounts bar typically 063 404 chains. 660 uses small mount with 050 to 063 3/8 chain. 660 runs a faster speed than 404 was originally intended. For sure not a very practical conversion. Thanks

If the oil holes line up......a couple of sleeves or lengths of springs will do the trick.

You can with an adapter and a Dremel but it's not pretty.

The oiler holes on the 090 or 880 bar will not line up with the oiler on the 660 case. The adapter might look good for bolting the bar on, but the chain is not going to get the oil that it needs. As shown above, the slot cut in the bar might work, but you will have to do it on both sides in order to be able to flip the bar. Yep, it's ugly.
