By the way, Ron covered in sawdust and for once I was not the one to do it.

Hahaha I remember a photo of him getting buried in chips from you on a 125.

Certainly do love your photos and stories it keeps this place alive with Mac's cutting wood

I decided to look into the McCulloch 3516 I have sitting here with a busted primer bulb. After I took the carb off I looked in & the piston doesn't have any rings!? It has a few minor marks, but no rings.

Opened up the bonus 10-10s I got last month and just like the majority of Mccullochs I get the saw runs very well.
Replaced the broken green oiler button with my last one (black).
I didn't rebuild the carburetor or anything else on this saw and shes in good shape! I made about a dozen cuts in some hard wood with it and now she'll be sitting for at least a week while I'm working, which is usually a good thing gives the seals and carb time to soak up some fresh oils .
It does look like someone sealed the tank with some clear whatever? So maybe I'll redo that with a new gasket.

Here’s what the carbs had in ‘em. With the first pic, there was another gaskety-like circular piece, but I chucked it months ago so I don’t remember if it was a donut or an English muffin looking piece.F697C38A-C1FF-4C37-9A8F-98AFC0396FAA.jpegA0A8AF16-CB2D-4EBA-A9A0-6BCCFD3A64E2.jpegF96833CA-E2B0-4B0C-9B68-AACACDAC6D15.jpeg

I almost forgot, I got these two Macs for $10 off of a friend. One supposedly works, and I think that it is the 1-40 as it had a little mix in the tank and ran with gas down the carb. The best part is the recoil on the 1-40 works perfectly after soaking it in Liquid Wrench! It went from working at a speed that was close to the speed of glaciers from the last Ice Age to actually retracting as fast as a new saw’s recoil! (Well, almost. But you get the picture.)12D187B6-74F6-4CA4-888F-53A58338D0EC.jpeg61F2624F-F9A3-42E0-AE08-7EA4C630D436.jpeg6D08AB33-EB40-48CF-91B3-EBA56DFDB02B.jpeg9CD31618-23A0-4E09-9750-0ABAAF58D2F0.jpegBA569571-A052-4A3C-A61E-68E5C352BE36.jpeg
