Yeah a friend had a 372 oe black coil run backwards. Only time I have heard of it off this site in 30 yrs.

No it's called RER by ski-doo. Engine spins in reverse after slowing and second firing sequence starts. Slow it again and go into forward firing sequence. No gears involved.

RER Rotax Electronic Reverse.
The old AMF golf carts with the two cycle engine got reversed with a lever on the floor that just shifted the polarity of the starter so that when you hit the starter it crank the engine in the other direction.
two stroke motorcycles will run in reverse. Even with CDI that supposedly doesn’t do that. I’ve had my old Yamaha trial mono shock 350 engine do it twice. Both times it was stalling on an uphill where I took the clutch in just a fraction of a second late but it was still running. apparently what it did is stall but roll backwards a few inches to bump start the engine in the other direction. Pull the clutch and engine is still running thought it was OK give a little more revs let clutch out and takes off backwards
