Have a list of spring build projects and no lumber so I’m starting one log at a time. Anyone else ready for spring it was cold wind chills in single digits but was worth it to see the inside of them logs! These where cut at 12’ 8” they where destined for someone wood stove but figured a couple 4/4 boards for my boys future tree house and chicken coop is better

Could you ship those boards my way, it will make beautiful flooring. I’ll pay you handsomely.

I think that might be hickory maybe? Bitternut hickory? Or Black ash? Ive never seen white ash with dark heart wood....its always white through the entire log.

Yeah man!... That's some great looking stock!
I wonder if it effectively dries faster in that biting cold air ?

I process a lot of B+W film. When it's super cold and dry out it cuts my hang dry time in half.
Worked a job in Boulder Colo a few years ago. Rolls dry enough to scan in 20 mins... shocking. (usually I'm on the soggy west coast).
It's gotta be similar for freshly milled wood.
