I've got a crapload of old oregon bars, all commercial long ones , the markings on them are fairly universal with a few exceptions but I know somebody must know how to decipher them , the suffixs are what is different and up to now , unknown for me, an example like"338XXXD009 TC, or 378XXXD009 UH, others are "SMA" "SYA", I just wondered if it is something like rail material or something as simple as profile or chain ID, thnkx

New Oregon bars D009 is large Husqvarna. Usually the front numbers are length and pitch. There is a chart on Oregon's website for newer bars. Someone with an old catalog stashed away may be able to answer old designations.
