I didn't like the small Echo case so I came up with my own. $10 Homer Box and a little heat gun and I came up with this.

Heat slowly. I got in a hurry and melted a hole in the back. Heat inside and outside, press the saw in. If the plastic gets shiny, it's close to melting.

It might show my age, but I can remember when all saws came with a case that fit. I just rebuilt a Stihl MS271, Stihl wanted $109 for a case, Echo case was $40.
Once the injection mold is made, it probably takes $2 worth of material to make a case.

It's been awhile since they did. My Echo CS-3900 has a nice, tight-fitting case. Stihl use to supply them custom-fitted, but that evaporated some time ago. Homelite offered them some 30 years ago and Sears Craftsman cases were popular during that era.
