Stihl 056 Magnum II - need a piston

Ive never used parts from that supplier but i looked at them as well, i suppose an OEM will be rarer then hens teeth. Im terrified to risk a good OEM cylinder with a chinese slug though.. anyone use them before?

If you believe the cylinder is ok the piston may well be savable?....I think you'd get better results by starting a new thread and if your piston is shot, place an ad in the trading post.

Heres som pics of the piston and cylinder. Its tough to catch on my phone, the piston doesmt have any gouges or transfer that i can see. The piston has some decent gouges in it though so maybe the exhaust side of the cylinder isnt as happy as i thought, either way the transfer isnt to bad i dont think. Either way im assuming the cylinder can be saved with some light honing.

A member here, @leeha, had Wiesco do a run of pistons for the 166 Dolmar. They weren't cheap/inexpensive but were very high quality.

If you could get enough interest from 056M owners might be worth contacting Wiesco.

I have been told to try and only use a wiesco, italian or oem piston. Ive mever used the lil red barn chinese stuff but ive read alot of horror stories.

Pretty sure little red barn is not Chinese. But never ran one myself.
