The Z means that the saw has a spark screen in the muffler.
Z also means it is a USA saw

Ever notice that the letters in the "abbreviations" often do not supply even a hint of what they stand for. It's as if Stihl wants you to raise your eyebrows. 
...probably because some stand for German words .

No doubt, but even many of those are nebulous. Brand names, notation, and abbreviations have usually always mystified me. Often it's a language of its own....probably because some stand for German words
Hi harley, awesome list! Thanks for posting and helping all if us out. One more question, I didnt notice the "V" in your list. Im trying to figure out the exact model of my 362c-m because now they list 4 different cylinders and multiples of other parts as well. Do you happen to know wjat the V stands for?

It should tell you which cylinder fits the “v” models, and at the end it should tell you what makes the V unique.
