346xp is a special saw. They are just worth more money than any other 50cc saw. For awhile I was paying around $200 for good runners & $400+ for...
3/8 chain cuts faster on this saw than .325 & I just like 18" on a 50 cc saw.
I run 3/8, 18" on my 550. No way I'd go back to .325 on that saw
My wife is going to get an electric chainsaw. She just can't start a gas one. Looking at Dewalt right now.
Ported 346 & 357.
You read about turning a 365 xtorq into a 372 xtorq by grinding out the transfer cover. The 365 special is not the same. It will need porting and...
I don't think the two halves are interchangeable.
But I got a 550xp last fall that has run flawlessly.
346xp oe or ne doesn't mater.
That saw is too nice to be called a parts saw. Very good model and well worth fixing.
Old fuel lines are never ok.
Made today, 550xp/545 or ms261.
But the 346xp is still the One.
Oh yes, chains too tight or too dull play a big factor.
Also set idle a little higher.
With good bars rpm doesn't matter much. Lack of oil and grit are culprits.
Also, the OE 45cc has a nastier attitude than the NE version.
The old OE 346 is 45cc, the newer NE 346 is 50cc. Both stock the 550 is stronger. Ported the 346 is faster.
Looks like ethanol crud.
346xp? I have a couple, or 6. They're ok saws I guess.
Greats saws at good prices!
