Yes that support ring doesn't want to go down into the aftermarket rubber boot like it should, will have to work on that more. Its a good saw...

You don't want to use a 3/8 7 tooth driver on a 40cc saw, it will cut slower than a 3/8 6 tooth. Steve
Until you open up the muff its worse, the 026 muff wasn't clogged up to bad,. Steve

That's right, as they come with a really clogged up muffler and tuned lean they are just average at best. With a good muff modd and tuned good...
I can get ethanol free 91 at the local gas station BUT it comes out of the same hose as the 87 crap so after selecting 91 you need to run a gallon...

Did you pull out the adjusters and clean those circuits? Also could have a stiff diaphragm , try setting the metering lever just a little higher....

Don't confuse RPM with sawing speed. most will saw faster in big wood with more fuel. 4 stroking as soon as you let off a bit . Steve

I've run a few MS290 and 029 saws, they were all dogs compared to a good 50cc saw. Maybe if you let both saws scream instead of loading them...
