    036 new carb issue

Not float in chainsaw carbs. They use a pump instead, which is powered by the impulse coming from the crankcase. Take the carb apart, clean it, kit it, gently push some air through it or better yet a ultra sonic cleaner. Could be gummed up.

    Makita 6421 Build Problems

Heat the case up and knock it out. Should come out pretty easy if the case gets hot enough.

    Stihl 066 port numbers

    Interesting.

    Stihl 066 port numbers

I wouldn’t do more than 77.5 on the intake and 102.5 on the exhaust. 20bd is fine.

    Stihl 066 port numbers

Lower exhaust works better on a 064 and 066. If you dropped that jug it would be better. 103/128/76 would be nice.

    What's on your bench

Finished up two 7900 cylinders this weekend. Decided to port the 6401 top end too. Just for fun.

    Jonsered 2077 build

Agreed. Takes little time though. Especially on something like the intake where you would only take it down to 80 or 120 grit.

Pro mac 800 build with options

These work great. I use them as the last step to beveling a freshly done port, just to get it extra smooth. Also use it for cleaning off old gaskets and gasket maker. Lots of uses for them. Certainly come in handy

Adding ring locator pins to a piston without them

Sure, but then what about the ring? You would have to cut the ring groove deeper. Better question is why? The 51.4mm piston works just fine and that whole setup ports well.

    Little advice needed!

Ill buy that 440 :). I have a 460 top end looking for a home.. Most everything you asked is a no. Timing advance: pull the flywheel and key. Put the key in vice grips, put the vice grips in a vice. Take a flat file and remove .020-.030". Now lock up the saw with rope, put the key back in and...

Adding ring locator pins to a piston without them

Not possible. Aussie was talking about the 52mm cylinder.

    Jonsered 2077 build

I’m not knocking him at all. Half the fun is seeing the final result. Glad someone else is willing to post up some port work. The finish work hardly takes any time. Split mandrel and some sand paper.

Was there any ring pin locators on that piston? General setup looks identical to a SP60 I'm working on. Blows my mind a bit the SP60 does not have any.
