I finally figured it out there is a plastic piece beside the flywheel with a hole in it that shoots straight into the air box [emoji1]

Lol, I meant where does outside air enter the air box. When the top cover is on it looks sealed other than the cracks where the cover meets the saw.

Where does the 550 and 562 draw air from for the carburetor?

I was thinking about modifying mine, I plugged the decomp holes on my 562 and 550 and figure the hole that left is about the same.

Has anyone measured the new version cylinder and piston? Was the old piston to tight or loose in the cylinder, I put a new piston in mine and it has the exact same markings as the first one it still runs great but gets on my nerves o well.

Anything that would show the differences in the new top cover im thinkn i can "modify" mine and have a like new top cover:)

Well I fired er up it runs like a scolded dog I love these saws!!!

I put a thin coat of spray copper sealant on the gasket got it all put together I'll fire her up tommorrow[emoji39]

Finally got the parts I'm gonna put it back together when I get home tonight is it ok to reuse the base gasket or should I put some sealer on there with it.

550xp at-1 249 carburetor .410" strato tubes.

I guess there not hurting anything I don't want o try to sand them off I don't have anything to get that far up there.

I got the exhaust port completely clean those dang bumps are just leftover cylinder coating I reckon.

I'm ready just have to wait till the piston gets here I hope I don't jack it all up.
