    Stihl 08S

I need the whole starter cover since the air intake is in bad shape missing parts on the grill and one can fit a finger through the holes easy. The problem is that it appears to be two models both 08S ... one has the air governor and the other does not and the starter covers are different.

    Stihl 08S

I bought a Stihl post hole digger some time ago. It had many parts missing from the engine. I figured it was easier to buy an old 08S and replace the engine. So I did, but to my surprise, the 08S I got is different from the one on the digger. The one I bought for replacement seems to be older...

    Best machete? Your opinions, please.

Collins is a good machete, just don't fall for the very long ones, they are not necessarily better and they tend to vibrate a lot in your hand when you hit something solid. First thing you do is rip the plastic handle off and make a nice wooden one. If you use it a lot, wind some strips of old...

    Veggie oil?

Another thought on 'stiff' chains. As it was mentioned before, vegetable oil oxidizes or rather polymerizes faster under pressure and temperature, something that occurs when oil is used as lubricant. If a chain is hot from cutting, and put away hot, the oil on said chain will polymerize fast...

    Veggie oil?

From the various 'disadvantages' quoted for Canola oil, one, the tendency to get rancid is something that can be overcome. All vegetable oil oxidize, some faster than others and they all contain some preservative to reduce this tendency to an acceptable level. However since they are for eating...

    Homelite questions

Thought I give this another try. Bought a Homelite Super XL 925 last year yet couldn't get it to work as it should. Keeps running lean and stopping. Thought it sucks air from somewhere. Turns out it needs replacing the crank case seals Your rattle gun suggestion did work and I was able to...

    Homelite Super XL 925

Bought a Homie 925 last year yet couldn't get it to work as it should. Keeps running lean and stopping. Thought it sucks air from somewhere. Turns out it needs replacing the crank case seals Your rattle gun suggestion did work and I was able to dismantle the stubborn clutch no problem. The...

    Undoing a stubborn clutch

Can someone help with some idea or two about how to undo a clutch that seems welded on the shaft on my Homelite 925? The usual whacking and WD40 don't seem to work. That clutch has been screwed on there for the last 30 years yet I need to change the seals so must come off.

    I've Been Screwed!!!

blsnelling, you bought a lemon that was misrepresented on e-bay and tried to get your money back using paypal. However in the meantime, you got your money back in kind. You should have given your paypal claim away. You can't have a cake and eat it too. Or...you should dispense the same...

MS191t: The Most Powerful Stihl TopHandle EVER!

Sure thing you guys bag e-bay a lot. However e-bay has little to do with what people choose to sell and buy, it just provides the marketplace and some rules for the exchange. Good model chainsaws in good conditions and cheap are a specialized find, not likely to be on e-bay. Too much demand...

    New Stihl 070

The 070 appears by all accounts to be genuine yet was deemed to be a Chineese reproduction. I am intrigued at what made Pest jump the gun. Is it that comon? Are they so good that you cannot spot the difference? Is it the fact that it is an older model assumed not to be manufactured...

    New Stihl 070

You can still buy 070 and yes also 090 built in Germany. The 090 is sold mainly to Malasia and is sold through Stihl Australia.

Longest, most useless description in Ebay History!

The 925 is a fine powerful saw, that one does not look too bad. The bar looks a bit rusty, the seller wants to be funny so what? He has probably placed a reserve price of 2 or 300 and so will not sell but who can blame him? I would pay 100 buck for that saw. If it is in good nick it will run...

    Logman Tenon Maker

Starting an engine with a drill, hum that is a concept. You could have rigged up an old electric motor with a washing machine gearbox and plugg it in. Anyway, I am iterested in good drills and your Timberwolf drill caught my attention. However I cannot find the brand Timberwolf, only a...

    I've Been Screwed!!!

Hum...when I do accept the explanation above that cleaning makes it worst, your explanation is a bit... hum... out there. You cannot factor in your time in that way. If the cost of opportunity of your 20 minutes is zero, that is cleaning up, just as packing up your tools, washing your hands or...

    I've Been Screwed!!!

Incredibel story. Nasty stuff those palms you have. Now this may sound a tad simplistic but wouldn't it be possible to steam clean or pressure clean the saw at the end of the day?

    Logman Tenon Maker

You don't need a reuter, all you need is a wood block with a hole in it. Cut the wood block half way with the chainsaw. Clamp your chaisaw in a vice, slip the bock on the bar, tie up the trigger with a rubber band and voilá instant tenon maker. Ok ok I understand that may be dangerous, then tie...
