    Cold Weather Wedge

Probably been posted before, but... What wedges do you guys use for super cold days? I have some of those generics from Baileys and have been grenading them. Been cutting frozen spruce and they just shatter in 0 degree weather.

Probably another black mark for anything timber related around here

so... We were on our way to a very popular mountain lake around here and came across this yesterday morning. Two guys were walking down the road away from the scene and it looked like they had beer in there hands. Don't know if they were the culprits or not but... This road is traveled very...

    Fallers Perspective on Saws

Hey, wanted to post this and pick your guys brains a little cause I don't know much about the newer Huskys. Not really a brand name guy, just a run what ya brung. Here's what I got going on. I have run the 46 class Stihls mostly, and have always been fairly content. My 461 has a little over 2...

Going rate for skidder and operator

Hey guys, I have been doing some thinking about expanding into getting my own skidder and running it for contract. I want to find out if it's even worth the hassle. What are some rates you are seeing, paying or making around your areas. I know its somewhat subjective to that, but just looking...

Hi, I just bought a used Husky 268(does not say XP either) and the serial # is 5461120. I thought it was a 95 model but it seems to have a newer air filter type with the snap on cover.

    Hole in 288 cylinder repair

So, I have discovered a bad thing. My 288 has a hole in the decompression valve chamber that is giving me woes. (see image) Looking for some advice. I tried a high temp thread sealer and it just turned it to ash. Was thinking of J B welding the plug into it and sealing it that way. But, I...

    Help with 288xp running problems

I have a 288xp supposedly rebuilt recently. was running fine a while ago, then developed a problem of not staying in tune. I thought the screws were backing out as I had to reset them and it would load up and run pig rich after working with it a little bit. so I replaced the needles and...

Help with new carb for a 288xp

A while ago I posted that my needles will not stay adjusted on my current carb. Rather than try to rig it with tape or thread lock, as I adjust for different altitudes and such, I think that I would like to get a new carb. aftermarket seems cheaper; Are any of the aftermarket carbs worth...

    288xp carb problems

The mixture screws on my carb wont stay adjusted, they keep backing out while running. What can be done? I tune it and then after a short while it loads up and runs lame. Also, if the carb is shot, will an older 181 carb fit and work on my saw? I have access to one.

    Vac Test on 288?

Have a husky 288xp that was supposedly just rebuilt with 4 tanks on it. It has now developed a problem of dying when I lay it sprocket/clutch cover up. I can give it throttle and it will continue to run in that position but will die when at idle. all other positions are fine. It sounds like...

    288xp dawgs

I have a 288xp and was wondering if anyone knows of some replacement felling dawgs that are taller on top (stick up more) than the OE ones. The top of my dawgs are flush with the bar and it makes it very hard to dawg in on a top cut. The bottom on them is great. My Stihl has great spikes on...
