    troubleshooting a woodsplitter problem

Did you replace the entire valve body? Sounds like you have wear problem allowing fluid to bypass, this will cause the oil to heat up pretty fast and reduce pressure due to the leakage. It could be the cylinder or the pressure relief valve not being able to seat due to wear. Look on the valve...

    Log splitter problems

    1) How long have you had this splitter? 2) Did this problem start suddenly or long term? 3) Pump = volume Restriction = pressure There should be little or no pressure on the return side where the filter should be installed so the suggestions about the filter housing are the...

    Who lives in MN?

There was an agreement made between U.S. Steel and the State that dates back to 1960. I don't know all of the dirty little details but it's been all over the news the last couple of weeks. Cliffs has that land now but it appears that the State is sticking with the deal they made in 1960 and will...

How late in the year do you cut/split?

I cut and split all year round but, I much perfer doing it when it's cold. Use the cold weather oil in your saw so you don't take out the oil pump, if you run out you can always mix a little kerosene with summer wt. to thin it out some. Just let the splitter warm up and cycle it a few times...

Good call. There's just too much at stake to risk an untested, unapproved modification. :chainsawguy:

    improving wood stove

North central Mn? Go to Grand Rapids and check out Charmaster. ( west side of town heading to Deer River ) You might get some ideas there. Modifying an existing unit is probally not a good idea especially if it's indoors but you might get away with it.

    ASPEN trees

Alot of it around here, mainly used as pulp wood. It's generally looked down on as firewood but it'll do in a pinch.

    Bee Careful?

Got married outside in a small opening surrounded by mature oaks. While saying all of those special words I noticed a stream out flying insects directly behind the preacher. After all of the festivities I wandered over to the spot and found a hole with a large stream of ground wasps going in and...

    Through floor ventilation.

I use a couple of bathroom vent fans to pull cold air out of the basement through the dead space behind the fireplace to heat it and then out into the living room. this works pretty good pulling the air from the kitchen into the laundry room before recirculating across the basement. The fans are...

    Michigan Pulpcords

It would be worth your time to see it before you buy it. Most loggers selling loads for firewood know what a cord is and are serious about their business. But there's always some fly by nighters hanging around the fringes looking for a quick buck who don't know or care about what they are doing...

    Price for facecord of firewood

Anywhere from $60 to $120 for 1\3 cord. There isn't a whole lot of consistency among the firewood sellers around here. I've only found 1 who knows what a true measured cord is and if you try to explain to them that their " cord" is only about 1\3 of a cord, you might as well kick their dog too!

    Extreme Logging

You keep a small fire on the landing with your oil close by so you don't tear up your oiler gears. Once you get used to below zero temps. anything above zero is too warm.
