Only guidance i've ever seen is to not piss-rev a new saw at fulll throttle and only run it at max throttle when buried in wood for the first few tanks. (Stihl 261c-m manual) Common sense might suggest a short warm up but never heard specifics on time. I've never waited around too much once...

Yep ... 12" to 24" wood cutting is 60cc for me as well. If you want light weight 60cc, also look at Husky 555. Might be a bit more $$ than the Echo.

Yup, I understand you like the MkII, I'd probably like it as well, just can't justify a saw that is so close to 562xp in weight yet is only 50cc. Now if they had made it 55cc and kept it at the same weight it is now, it might make mores sense to me. Happy cutting.

for that small difference you're buying a lot more peace of mind going with new. If the refurb was at a local saw shop down the road from you and you knew the guy personally then I would view it more favourably.
