    Ms462 stop sale.

    . . . ya, that's a pretty miserable dealer right there.

    Ms462 stop sale.

Interesting, I hadn't heard anything about cracked mounts on 462 yet.... :popcorn2:

Your idea of a perfect saw

Ya, I'm guessing a pro level ported saber would run best on 40/1 oil ... not 50/1 :innocent:

Your idea of a perfect saw

Ya ... 10lbs, 70cc, 28" bar ... :pingpong:you just wave it around at the wood like a light saber. :drinkingcoffee:

Your idea of a perfect saw

A 562xp with better filter setup from a 261 c-m, easy start from a Dolmar 421 and fuel injection would suit me just fine.

What to do in thsi situation

Maybe, just maybe he was trying to do a back cut first on a heavy leaner but that is definitely not something one should try without considerable experience and instruction. Video below is a very experienced Faller on Vancouver Island. Second half (starts at 6 minutes in) of this video...

What to do in thsi situation

I don't see any notch cut at all in that photo... o_O I would not advise any further felling or cleanup attempts in any way without at very least, spending some considerable time on Youtube watching professional felling techniques. Especially look for how to fell leaners with bore cuts. Thank...

    Is this what’s called a barber’s chair?

11-S-14: Barber-Chair Tree Kills Logger by Rick Meyer "In this incident, the timber cutter (deceased) used a common felling method in which the undercut notch was less than 45 degrees, and he completed the backcut from the outside of the tree working inward toward the hinge. The problem with...

    Chainsaw warm up period?

Only guidance i've ever seen is to not piss-rev a new saw at fulll throttle and only run it at max throttle when buried in wood for the first few tanks. (Stihl 261c-m manual) Common sense might suggest a short warm up but never heard specifics on time. I've never waited around too much once...

How hot should my saw get during operation?

Electric chainsaw :baba: Likely the norm in the future. https://www.husqvarna.com/ca-en/products/chainsaws/536li-xp/966729174/

Who pays retail at their Stihl dealer?

Stihl Canada rotates sale of a different pro level saw once per year around this time. They usually drop the retail price of one saw each year a little over 10%. My dealer gives me that reduced price regardless of sale or time of year. They know their margins and overhead and want to stay in...

Have land - Need a chainsaw

Yep ... 12" to 24" wood cutting is 60cc for me as well. If you want light weight 60cc, also look at Husky 555. Might be a bit more $$ than the Echo.

Husqvarna 550XP MK I or MK II?

Yup, I understand you like the MkII, I'd probably like it as well, just can't justify a saw that is so close to 562xp in weight yet is only 50cc. Now if they had made it 55cc and kept it at the same weight it is now, it might make mores sense to me. Happy cutting.

If I didn't have a 562xp with a light weight Tsumura bar I might agree with you.

Husqvarna 550XP MK I or MK II?

Ya I bought a 261 c-m too, for the lower weight and extra hp. Unfortunately it's turned out to be a cranky little bstard to start mostly when it has been run hard and then sat for 15 minutes. Starts ok on cold start after about 6 pulls, but takes 12 pulls on average with hard drop starts to...

You need a wife like this!

That's a sturdy wife! Pretty nervy low life that would do that sort of thing to a woman in the bright light of day. Most of the riff raff that we see on occasion around here are not used to pedaling their stolen bikes uphill and wear out pretty quickly  After the long ride, dogs...

    New Chainsaw Advice needed

for that small difference you're buying a lot more peace of mind going with new. If the refurb was at a local saw shop down the road from you and you knew the guy personally then I would view it more favourably.
