    Who uses an Electric Roaster

My grandmother used to use an Electric Roaster for everything from slow cooking to baking and roasting. It was her 2nd oven in some cases. The other day I saw one in a second hand store for $20 and am telling myself that I don't really need it. For those familiar, what are your Pro/Con Like this:

    Leaner

Camping this weekend on our Troop commanders old farm and he asks if I can bring a saw. Sure, big or small? Expecting to just cut some tops for the camp fire and he goes into this whole story about sliding in the mud and rubbing his camper into a leaner on the farm road..... I know exactly the...

    Jerky

I mentioned that it had been a while since we've had some wild game on our Scout outtings and that if someone had an old venison roast I'd whip us up some jerky. Our unit commander, a notorious deer slayer came through with two nice rounds. Letting it sit in the frig over night, still mostly...

    Trail work, Husqvarna brush axe

My son has been doing some trail work in a nature conservancy, using hand tools to clear and maintain trails and remove invasive growth. He primarily uses a mattock and loppers. I'm looking to get him his own tools and been looking at Sandvik & Husqvarna brush axe with replaceable blades. He...

    CHAIN, rollin' like a Bound

When you ask yourself, "what are the chances that would ever happened", but it DID, then 100%... Last time out with the Scouts I brought my DIY ms180 for firewood service. Well, after warming up and running a bit the chain just kept running so I turn it off, get some tools and do the usual but...

    Tuning in the cut

I've never had a little saw that I couldn't tune good enough and close enough on the bench or on the tailgate until now. I never would have thought. I've got a little Echo CS-306 that has the CAT punched out and that could be part of the issue not having its normal back pressure. I'm going for a...

    Craigs List, Holy Mac, L-Ville

This may be an "almost Holy Grail" for some Mac collector out there, S550 Louisville Craigs List https://louisville.craigslist.org/tls/d/vintage-mcculloch-chainsaw/6212131642.html

    Pole saw recommendation and review

Our Scout Troop has taken on some forest restoration and invasive abatement and my "home owner" grade pole saw may warrant significant upgrade. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day cutting out invasive bush honeysuckle and vines along a section of land used by our Church for Spiritual...

    Generac 2400 carb settings

Not large equipment but not a chainsaw either. Looking for factory main needle jet setting on a Generac 2400 w/ Briggs 5hp. The governor adjusting the running speed makes it impossible for me to listen for the changes in a typical engine. If you are familiar with this particular model I'd...

    Bar Oil for stump work

Bar oil is apparently a bit too tacky... for stumpwork. Caking up around the spur drive and gumming up the work. Maybe that it's turning to mud may have something to do with it. Needless to say I had to spray things out really good then as it dried WD-40. I suspect a detailed cleaning will be in...

    MS250c, chock block

Rescued from being a chock block. Yup thats right, ballast, counterweight. 1-purge bulb, new saw chain and a good cleaning and it's ready to go. I opened up the muffler louvers and punched (2) 5/16" holes besides the OEM muffler outlet hole. I filed the H-limiter tab and retuned just a tad...

    MS170/Hutzl 180 convert, deep sleeper

It's been nearly a year since the MS170/Hutzl 180 convert has come out to play. The beeAuch was less than receptive to a kiss on the cheek and awakening from deep slumber. She was ran dry, dosed with true fuel and then run dry again. Couldn't keep her running without feathering back and forth...

    Who's used a TORO Dingo?

I've asked on the large equipment forum with no response but maybe a Dingo isn't big enough?? Who's used/seen a TORO Dingo in action and what opinion concerning landscape. How well do they dig small scale. In particular I've got about 18'x30' area to taper zero to 12", about 8-10yrds. I plan...

    Baby Dingo(TORO)

I've got dirt to move in my back yard and considering renting a Toro Dingo. I suspect that it will be the smaller model like the 220 but if available tx1000. How well do these dig? The end project is 18'Lx27'W tapered 12" to zero across the width. Best guess about 10.5 yrds minus the space of a...

Toro "personal pace" Lawnmower sputters and dies

Mowing the lawn w/ Toro personal pace mower and it just stopped. Trying to restart it would sputter and die so I took off the air cleaner to try a few things. I cranked it and held thumb partially blocking the inlet and feathering the inlet was able to keep it running.... so, carb issue. This...

If I can get my Dads 10/10

If I can get my Dads 10/10, what to expect? Carb kit and rubber lines. Will the fuel tank paint be peeled? At 15lb can it get ported to offset its tonnage?

MS170 to Scout camp, chain stretch

Took the augmented MS170 to Scout camp for firewood duty. The Hutzle long block 180 replacement is still settling in with just a few hours run time. It takes up little room and chewed up enough downed trees/limbs to feed the fire pit. Ran just shy of 1-tank fuel and the chain is getting loose...

    Cheating - sawmill slab wood

Quick and easy or cheating? All but fell in the lap. 4 ft dia x 8 ft long bundle of maple with a bit of cedar. Not but a piece or two need to be split. I think that the 30cc can manage. Kind of like limbing.

    A few rounds

Went with a buddy and picked up a few rounds today. Gonna go back hauling the splitter when we get the rest. Its been sitting a while, wish we'd gotten it like a year sooner.

    Loose MS170/180 top cover

I had an MS 170 fall into my lap nearly a year ago. In the rebuild I noticed that every time the brake handle got reset that the top cover either lifted up or popped off. It wasn't anything that the sanding drum couldn't take care of. I ground a little radius into the cover near the brake handle...
