Really really really want a tractor

I should have also mentioned steps and whatever else might be in the way, and not just fenders. Some steps are real close to the front of the back tires on some units.

Really really really want a tractor

And not everyones situation is the same. Our freeze/thaw cycles build lots of ice over the winter, in the yard and on the woods roads. Both pretty hilly.

Really really really want a tractor

We've got a couple 100hp class tractors here that would be useless in the winter without some kind of traction help. If that will be a situation you will be in (the OP that is), and chains might be in your future, make sure what you get has room for chains under the fenders. Some just don't have...

Really really really want a tractor

What dealers do you have close by? Good ones? Dealer support is a big one. We've got Kubotas here. No issues. Just one bad sensor episode on our M6, they came and got it and brought a loaner for us to use the 3 days it was gone. I don't think they're any dearer than others brands. Especially...

No More Heating With Firewood In New York?

Looks like the crazy train went through and lost some of its load. ..

Horizontal or vertical and I’m whipped.

Noodling isnt ripping. Ripping is the kind of cut you do when milling - cut into the cut end face of the wood. Front of saw engine right angles to wood end face. Noodling cuts into the rounded bark covered side of the wood. Front of saw engine up against wood end face.Very different outcomes and...

    OWB Questions

My hot water heater is bottom entry. I have a T there and another one up high on the side at the T&P relief port. A small circulator (B&G Ecocirc) pulls from the bottom T, thru the load side of the flat plate, into the top T. Controlled by a Johnson A419 temp controller with the temp sensor set...

    Sidearm not heating water

Ah, ok. Think I got it now. Should be able to feel where heat is or isn't going. I'm kinda thinking there's enough scale buildup inside that heat transfer isnt happening like it should. Might need real good heat transfer to pull the water down around that loop at the bottom. If I still wanted to...

    I want it.

That's the bad thing about standing dead. Big ol' dead limbs waiting to rain down on you.

    Sidearm not heating water

But there's a third copper line, at the top, going to the right in your pic. You said it was a return?
  12. N

    Sidearm not heating water

Whoa, hold up. That is a heating return line? So you're mixing heating system water and domestic water?
  13. N

    Sidearm not heating water

What's up with that copper pipe at the top going off to the right? Sidearms work best when the domestic water can come out the bottom of your tank straight into the bottom of the HX, and out the top of the HX straight into the top of the tank. That little down loop at the bottom might be...

Horizontal or vertical and I’m whipped.

Horizontal unless they're too big to lift up there without my back complaining. Then its vertical to make them small enough to lift. Never found it very hard to split big stuff vertical. Just roll the rounds to in front of the foot, put a stick on the ground in front of the plate for a fulcrum...

    OWB Questions

Is the OWB your only source of DHW? Are you trying to run it as an on demand setup? Not an optimal setup, for me. I have an ordinary 80 gallon electric tank water heater. I use a 20 plate flat plate to heat it with wood when burning. Uses a small circulator on the DHW side to heat the tank up...

    OWB Questions

I would definitely want a mixer on my floor loops. Water in there that is too hot could cause damage to floor materials. Dont think I would go above 120 or so.

    Log splitter question and comparison

I wouldn't buy until I could at least see in person. Pay attention to design and layout. Look for central control you can use from either side equally as well, engine away from the working area and falling splits, easy to reposition or move around by hand, tow end opposite splitting end, and...

    Looking for a Wood furnace...Again

I have seen vids of that, a Shelter or Firechief. Don't think I can find it again but maybe someone else can.

    Indoor Wood Boiler Idea?

Why is this a stickie? Didnt see it before. Waste of time, IMO. If heat is making it into the water jacket, running it the way it is designed should get the heat out to where it is needed. And somehow making it give off more heat will mean you will need to burn more wood to generate said heat.

We had our income tax done...

Yes, I think some accountants will err on the side of extreme caution too much sometimes so they would be less apt to draw the attention of IRS or CRA (whatever side of the border you're on) to themselves later as the preparing professional. At the cost of their client paying more taxes than...
