Stihl 661 7 vs 8 pin - Full Skip vs Full Comp - 28" bar

So since this topic is about the ms 661, does anyone know if there is a dual port muffler cover for it? Or max flow air filter kit?

Stihl 661 7 vs 8 pin - Full Skip vs Full Comp - 28" bar

I have a well broke in 661. I use a 8 pin for more chain speed using shorter bars up to 28 inch. 7 pin for more torque using longer bars. Great saw imo. I use mine for everything from logging to firewood to pre commercial thinning. With a 28 inch stihl light bar it feels very similar in...

    What model falling saw?

My 661 works perfectly for me. But it's not just the saw, bars and chains play a big role to. I run full skip chisel on both of my saws. The first thing I do to a new chain is file the takers down 3 to 5 swipes.

    MS661C Muffler Mod Testing

What purpose does a 20 inch bar serve on a 90cc class saw? Just curious. I recently picked up a 661 and it doesn't cut any faster than my 362 until it's buried in bigger wood. 661 36 inch bar 362 28 inch bar

Another downfall with the old screworld on caps is it was to easy to poke a hole in them when tightening them with a bar wrench. Most of the time they held just finger tight though.

My 362 has a 28" stihl light bar (full skip). Its wore that bar since I bought the saw a year ago. Have had no issues yet. Oils just fine. The saw now has a 3/4 wrap handle on it and redwood felling dawgs. This week I went in to buy a saw at our local dealer, they had two 461s in stock with 36"...

    Driptorch fuel mix.

Slash fuel I understand this is an old thread. Ive been fighting forest fires for over 10 years and the same with prescribed fire. We have always used 3 parts diesel to 1 part gas. The state and federal government use offroad non taxed diesel so its a different color. 4 to 1 seems a little cold...

JB Weld + 361 gas tank?

No it was not cracked or have any holes in it. It was a little sraped up with chain marks is all. The idea was to prevent a punture from ever happening.

JB Weld + 361 gas tank?

I hope my picture loads up here. I recently had a stroke of genius, I hope. I decided to apply JB Weld to my 361's gas tank around the bottom corner area behind the rubber sawdust guard. Guard? Deflector? Whatever its called. The end result is an excellent redneck chain guard. These tanks are...

    Stihl MS 362

What works best is a matter of opinion, I (and many others) say go with the best dealer support in your area. That being said, in my exp a Stihl and a Husky work well for a single owner operator (I'm talking pro saws) but when that same saw is used by multiple people like for company use or on a...
