    Chainsaws in the house?

Hmmmmm...interesting thought for me. I live in a "studio", basically 1 room for bed and "living room" plus a bathroom. Total is under 275 sq. ft. I have been living with my saws in my room for 2 years now. Both have a case and I have stored them full of gas and empty. Never smelled gas...

    MS660 Muffler Mod

I will take a crack at this since I just did my 460 muffler mod. The dual port muffler has two holes obviously: One of the front cover and one on the side of the muffler body. The hole on the side of the muffler has a deflector shield over it to keep hot gas from hitting plastics and such. I...

Storage case for the Stihl MS441

If you can find the rectangular, black Stihl case it will fit a half wrap saw up to a 460 with no modifications. And maybe a 660, but I haven't tried. When I added the larger clutch cover and dual dogs I had to modify mine slightly to fit the larger dog teeth. As others have mentioned though...

.050 Bar vs .063 pros cons

I think this is highly regional though. Where I am, everything comes in .050 up to 36" for Stihl and Husky. .058 is unknown here and .063 is much less common than .050. Never seen a bar larger than 36" in a store around here and I don't know your definition of "very large bars" so maybe 36"...

    Tachometers

Personally I prefer the NON-Wireless versions of a tachometer. Sure, the wireless version are easier to install, but ....are they really? I keep reading reviews here of wireless tach's that have problems. Yes, for some people they work great but the sampling/reporting on a chainsaw message...

    cleaing and maintenance

Not sure on a Husky but on my Stihl I pretty regularly remove the clutch drum to clean behind it, blow out the gunk with air, etc... Really easy to remove the drum, just a circle clip. washer and sprocket to remove, then the drum slips right off. The needle bearings and cage will either be...

Chainsaws in the workplace: How do I find out more?

I am not looking for legal advice. I am just hoping for some direction on how to find out more about the the laws regarding using chainsaws in the workplace, specifically in California. My situation: Where I work, our property recently survived a forest fire and I expect some tree work in...

Does the # of Guide Bar Sprocket Teeth Matter?

So that is all? It doesn't make the chain a little tougher to pull around the bar nose or increase drag or something? I am just trying to wrap my head around it since it seems such small changes in configuration can make such a large impact on performance in chain saws and I have never heard...

Does the # of Guide Bar Sprocket Teeth Matter?

Here's what happened: When I purchased my MS 460 I bought 25" Stihl bar to go with it. The label on the bar listed the MS 461 but NOT the MS 460. I ask the dealer about it and he said it didn't matter, it was a typo (my wording, not his). The shop was out of 28" bars, 32" I already had and...

shtf/bugout saw set up and why.........

Interestingly enough, I had to evacuate from my home a few weeks ago and had 1 hour to pack and go. So what saw would I take? I took the saws I own: my three year old Husky 445 and my couple month old 460. Also grabbed my spare chains, pre-mix and tools. Only thing I left behind was my fuel...
