Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

That's another idea. that would be more feasible than grease and should be reusable.

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

You're right. I just pulled my filter and was coming back to report that there is not a groove like I thought I saw before. I have the same filter as the top one in your pic. Just a flat face, no groove. I could have sworn there was a groove. Oh well. Grease is probably my ticket, although there...

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

If i remember correctly, the air filter has a channel made into it around the opening for the carb. I wonder if I could cut an O-ring and silicone in into that groove in the air filter? That would (should) make a good seal on the carb flange I would think. I might try that. If not I like the...

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

Update, I ran a few more tanks of fuel through this MS381 and it's waking up. I really noticed it the last tankful, I can use the felling dogs now and the chain doesn't stop nearly as easy as it did before. I think the rings are seating now and she's making more power, it's more of what I...

    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Anyone have the MS192TC service manual and IPL that would share? Thank you!

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. I was going to try to find a skinny oring that I could stick to the filter so it sealed, but I like your idea better. Thank you!

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

Ah! So I was misinformed from the Chinese, they told me this was a FarmerTec saw. I guess it's to be expected out of them to mislead me. Sigh. Thank you for the info, I am still learning about these Chinese companies. I have used many of their parts on my saws and for friend's saws, but this is...

Huztl FarmerTec MS380, MS381, 038 Build Kit Start to Finish

I cheated this time... instead of buying the kit, I sourced an already built MS381 from a FarmerTec distributor. Didn't build it myself, but wanted to give it a shot. And hey, if it blows up, I'll be back on here with a teardown and failure analysis. For now, I've got 4 tanks of fuel through it...

Want to Buy Stihl MS381 recoil model plate

I am looking for a new or gently used plastic name plate that goes on the recoil of a Stihl MS381 chainsaw. This saw was not sold in the US so my dealer can't get me one. Anyone have one they would part with? This is for a FarmerTec saw, beat me up if you want to, but for the price I was...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

Uh oh. Busted. Yeah, you are right. We don't always wear PPE but we should. I'll look into carving a hole in the new one tomorrow, help it breathe easier. Does it count if the old man takes his hearing aid out before he cuts? :D

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

I'm glad to hear I am not alone! Good thing yours was just paper. My flywheel magnets seem fine, as well as the coil leg, but I'm sure it could have been bad. At least it was an easy fix for both of us. How does your Huztl engine run?

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

Well, when it was low on compression, it still started easy and ran great, it was just low on power. I did adjust the carb now and then, trying to keep up with it to keep it alive a little longer, and I did bore out the muffler. The square stamped in under the deflector was cut out completely...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

That's right. I've been making mistakes for years now, I've learned a lot, but I never stop learning, or making mistakes... whatever you call it! Test ran for a few minutes, everything is great. Dialed in the carb, idles great. WOT sounds good too. I'm happy. I'll get it back to Dad and let him...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

Ok, I got a chance to check things over. Yeah, I feel stupid. Thank you, nstueve, you hit it right on the nose. Flywheel magnet was hitting the coil leg. I swear I gapped it properly, but either the bolts were not tight enough or I messed up the gap. Sigh. It rolls over now like it should, no...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I will contact them and see what they can do, but also I will try and measure the squish, if I can find my solder. I will also check the coil air gap again, maybe remove it, as well as the clutch, to rule those out. What is a good squish for an 029? I am fairly...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

Thanks Joe. That's about what I expected. It's either got to be the piston being a little too tall or the cylinder too shallow. I guess I didn't set the pistons side be side to verify height, nor did I depth check the cylinder against the OEM cylinder that I removed. Honestly never gave it a...

Stihl 029 - Aftermarket rebuild troubles

My dad's 029 was getting low on compression due to a scuffed piston on the exhaust side. So it got hot I told him, no big deal. We will put a new cylinder and piston in and be back in business. We decided to go with a no name kit from Huztl, being on a budget, which arrived the other day. He...

    New Stihl Pricing

Jughead - I saw earlier in this thread you mentioned Farmer Tec parts. I have bought from Huztl, Machines doctor, wangulo, and a few others off fleabay, and all the stuff I bought came in Farmer Tec packaging. I think it's all made by Farmer Tec and sold by lots of distributors online. Just...

Things we have learned the hard way

Haha Ive been! My arm is tired and im tired of seeing good compression and spark with good fuel and still no run or barely run. I sold a few of them just to make space. Very few trade up other brands with me anyway.
