    New Dolmar Chainsaw 70cc+ Suggestions

Well, Spike, I admit 20:1 might be a tad far...but 12:1 certainly isn't. I see your point on stocking parts and canning the line. I've thought about it. But we have been a Jred dealer for 35 years. They've just slipped slowly out of the public mind due to poor marketing, etc. So, yeah, Dolmar...

    Efco MT5200 / 152

I don't have the saw, just the dealer release papers.

    Efco MT5200 / 152

Just got the paperwork on the new Efco MT5200. I say new...new sticker. The picture is a 152, so are the specs. So unless they sent the wrong picture, it's just a name change so that all the saws are 'MT' branded now. Makes sense since the 156 and 165 are going away. Just passing along the info...

    New Dolmar Chainsaw 70cc+ Suggestions

Agreed. If a shop has Husky or Stihl, then it's pointless to add a smaller name because the banner names will get the sales due to name recognition. Product quality might be the same, but name is a huge factor. If you are a small engine repair or equipment sales place starting, you are going to...

    New Dolmar Chainsaw 70cc+ Suggestions

Some good points. I know last year a bigger than 7900 saw was supposed to be in design stage. My 2c... 1. Standard 6100 / HD filter. 2. 6100 level anti-vibe. Buttery! 3. Small / large dog option. 4. Must be over 6hp! Preferably closer to 7. Dolmar NEEDS a saw that can run a 36-42" in order...

    6100 Fuel lines

I've had a 6100 out the box with a split in the fuel line, two minute replacement. I haven't heard of chronic issues and there is no tech update.

    Dealer pricing

Makes me laugh when people think online is cheaper by default. NOT TRUE. Dolmar HD AF kit, retail is $72, Baileys is $99.99, for example. Partstree.com...don't even get me started. I KNOW the real list prices.

Can't find replacement bar for Dolmar PS510

Unlike Stihl, Dolmar don't try to make everything different: Dolmar bars are Oregon Prolites with different paint. You can ask Oregon why the 18" Prolite has fewer links and is a 17"...I'd like to know. Anyway, OP, that's what you need to buy.

    No more bag and drag

Because Bag & Drag was a promo in association with the distributor, Tilton. Now Tilton is gone and numerous distros are on, you'd have to get them all agree to the promo, which is usually not easy. I suspect it's just going to be something they let go, we will see.

Where did your brand bias come from?

I've been in the power equipment business 7 years, no previous involvement. I have seen what flows through my repair shop, what problems they have, what price parts are...etc. I started with no biases, I purely observed things. Every major manufacturer has good products, and they all have issues...

    Poor Dolmar parts service !

OK, I talked to my distro company rep about this as I was waiting on parts for a customer's saw for weeks. He says that Makita have just completely re-warehoused all of their parts in order to make their logistics better. I n that process they basically shipped nothing to the distro companies...

    Husqvarna 350 chainsaw rebuild?

You will need to reseal the crank bearing area joint, that white stuff Husqy used leaks all the time- I must have re-built over 20 345/350 saws now that all leaked on that sealant. Everyone has an fav sealant, I like Loctite 515.

    Jonsered

OH! I just got it! ST is passive-aggressive! It all makes sense now. First a statement that says "you're wrong" and then a nice little soother after. And then when someone disagrees or calls it out the soother is re-iterated...because, well..."I wasn't being a jerk." Anyway, the 2253 has...

    Jonsered

2253- All around limbing and trimming with an 18" bar, small to medium felling. Light, maneuverable, good pick up. 2172- 20 and 28" bars. That would cover everything else I'd usually encounter, large bucking and felling.

    Stihl Crank seal puller

I think the theme is that all the pullers are mediocre...but then again it's a tricky tool to make. Think about it, home made tools and screws can damage the case and bearings, a designer has to make it so that puller doesn't. Anyway, I have the Stihl and it's...ok. Slips out lots, but I get it...

    New Dolmar PS-6100!!

Re: Spikes. I complained to my Dolmar distro rep and directly to the head of marketing at GIE about the lack of outer cover dogs. They both agreed it's something to look in to, especially as the monster dogs on the 6400 are one of the things that really make it catch folks' eyes in the showroom...

    jd/efco cs56/156

They are excellent saws, great buy! Like I said a couple weeks ago, that model is discontinued this year, so get one now if you want one. I just stocked up for my store- they are one of my most popular saws and folks love them.

    Mastermind Meets The Dolmar PS-6100

Yessir, you have hit the nail on the head. F150, I'm constantly running out of them too! As soon as one guy buys one his neighbor turns up to shop his old saw in for one after seeing it in action!

    Efco 156 / 165 going away...

Yah, they moved offices to MN...made some changes. I'm not saying I don't think a new version would be bad...it's just that those saws are go good I want to make sure I get more out there before they are gone because when one leaves, that guy's neighbor walks in and wants one...they spread like...

    Efco 156 / 165 going away...

Yup, Efco are canning the 156 / 165 saws, also MT7200 and MT8200 are gone from their site. Dunno about the MT saws, but the other two have replacements due in a couple of months. Considering I sell plenty of 156 / 165s, people love them and I never have issues, I'm going to stocking up for the...
