    Big walnut

Had a big old walnut tree in the back yard that was struck by lightning, so I cut it down. There is a ten foot log at the bottom that is about 30 inches in diameter. I cut a crutch piece, here are two pictures of it. I will post more of it at a later date. Have to be careful,I know it has some...

Picked up new Rapid Fire today

Except for the fact that it would not retract all the way or even half way. I would have to push it back by hand and the flimsy springs were attached but too weak to pull it back. I have one and I would not trade in for a hydraulic splitter. I too had this same problem, until I checked the...

    066 High idle

I have an 066 that I use for milling, after making a cut the saw does not idle down, but continues running at better than half throttle. I have tried to adjust it but can not get it to a slow idle. In the cut it runs strong and smooth. Is there an easy fix for this. Lester

    wood to mill

Logs look pretty straight for wild cherry on the eastern shore. I have some that have been cut for a couple of years but none that straight. Nice rig to load and haul logs. lmbeachy

Can we have a wood pickerupper showdown/shootout please?

That is a good sized one, the largest one that we cut back in our woods was 61 inches across the stump. You didn't lift those rounds by hand. Lester

DR Rapid Fire Rack & Pinion

Different strokes for different folks. I have one and it has split everything that I have thrown on the deck. May have to hit it 2 or 3 times but that is still faster than hydro splitter. I love mine. lmbeachy

Will my splitter bust this round?

I think my DR would bust it so fast your teeth would rattle. Lester

    firewood and knee replacement

I'm 72 and had both knees done. One last year in Jan. and the other one in Oct.I still cut fire wood but not as much as you are talking about. One tihing to remember while the joints are new, the drive train or muscles are still the same age. But my advice to you is yeah get it done.

It Can't Be That I Am Getting Old!

I'm 72 and still trying to cut, however, I went to the Dr. the other day and had an MRI done.He said it was horrible, damaged so bad he can't fix it without loss of function. Said no more wood splitting, told him I now use a hydrolic splitter and he said that was OK. Don't know how much longer...
