    Stihl 025 piston kit

I installed one of the China-made 021/023 MS210/230 replacement engines for about 30 bucks in a busted MS230. Easy and super fast replacement. Runs OK.

    new to me 036 adventure

My guess would be a leaking inlet needle (below the metering diaphragm/lever) in the carb. Happens a lot, and the pressure building up in the tank (especially in warmer weather) will cause the engine to flood when it is not running... Great place you have! My saw of choice is a 034 AVS (same saw...

Need someone with CAD to identify gaps in my saw line up!

There's probably 200+ saws that would blend in well with the original lineup... don't push it

echo pb-500 backpack blower bogs at full throttle

At high speed blower engines run under full load, making the adjustment less perceivable. This also implies that the engine is easily adjusted too lean without noticing. A lot of blowers are killed that way...

    MS391 scored piston while milling

Or find an affordable old boat anchor like a Stihl 050/051/075/076. They may feel a bit heavy and slow but get the job done...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Make sure the saw oils in milling posture (on its side). Pickup lines tend to harden over time and the oil filter may not be able to follow the oil (gravity) when the saw is on its side.

What causes dying on sustained load?

Also check the fuel filter for signs of clogging... any restriction in the fuel supply route can cause leaning out at high rpms - as can a tiny air leak (fuel line, carb gaskets, etc.).

New Stihl bar, chain hard to turn

The DL at the bottom is way off its sprocket tooth. Weird... [edit] Enlarged it - looks OK real size  Must be paint binding the chain, then.

New Stihl bar, chain hard to turn

The pic may be misleading, but it seems like the pitch of the sprocket does not match the pitch of the chain? Get a new sprocket with the pitch of the chain/bar combo...

    044 problems

You are looking at a fairly cheap fix at the moment. One more lean and hot condition might double or triple the cost of repair.

    Problem with Echo CS-590 Chainsaw

Compressed air is certainly not a good idea. Check for leaky/missing welch plugs in the metering chamber... The easiest (quickest) way now would be to check using a carb off a running saw.

The 041 AV was my favorite until I met the 034 AVS... Still have 4 or 5 041 AV in running condition just in case I run out of 034's
