    Stihl Bar ID

Check on a normal bar you have a chain for. I Cut mine at 6DL over the tail for going around the sprocket on a 3/8 bar. The .325 milling chain is slightly different but that's a 9 tooth drive too, which can make a difference

    Narrow kerf bar/chain or not?

Seen a 21" 090 running .325 for speed cutting but still strong enough. A Few mill with a .325 setup, one Guy is South West Aus. I Will read bobs thread again though

    Stihl 088 magnum

25-1 or 32-1 I Had a stihl tech say 25-1 safe bet on any older saw Like my 084 or even the 660. Progressive rakers Spend $20?? or similar small amount extra on roll cost for ripping chain, even though I filed mine across from standard 30° that I had before milling. I feel it would be smoother...

What model of Sthil 661 ?

I just made my regular chain slowly into ripping chain but for a small amount extra cost on the roll factory 10° would be quicker

What model of Sthil 661 ?

That 090 looks mint. AV mark II Has a decent sized bar grab a 25-30" for bucking (haha) and go to left coast supplies or similar if you ever need a longer bar up to 84" Have you seen it personally yet? There is a China parts 070 which with a few parts can be made to look like a 090 so you need...

What model of Sthil 661 ?

661 keeps the same bar setup you already have. Otherwise in Stihl you can get a used 660 or new China hutzl style build saw kit if you want for 2-300. A 3002 mount saw 084/088/880 or older full mag case 100cc plus. New maybe switch to husky dare i suggest it . As same bar mount from 60cc...

Is it the Wood or the Chain?

I got small chips untill the mill slipped in clamps and hit the bolts in dry hard salmon gum down for 10y. 660 @ 36" and using stock A3EP CARLTON USA (NOT CANADA) that I gradually made 10° from 30° I did meet BobL and pick his brain in person. Find the progressive raker guide on it's own post or...

    Morbark m8D

wondering the same thing here in aus just that it's about $39,000 new for one. I like the low weight so I can pull with small Jap pickups domestically for garden work and small tree jobs. tossup with a bandit 90 much older and 500kg heavier 2000 vs 1500 kg and a quarter of the price

    42" 390xp

set the raker as bit gentler like less than 6deg and go slow drill the nose to mount on the mill pull the bucking spikes off and drill bar close to saw should get the 36"to do the job. Or the 42" shares the load from 28" of wood across more teeth. And you don't have to squeeze so tight on the...
