    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

Definitely call around. I called several Stihl dealers and prices for the exact same carb were all over the place. Some places wanted just over a hundred, I ended up buying it from an Ace hardware for 65 dollars, and they had it in stock surprisingly.

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

Speaking for myself here…. I have had nothing but bad luck with aftermarket carbs. I rebuilt a MS310 last year and pulled my hair out with running issues. As a last resort I ended up buying a Stihl carb complete with limiter caps and all and it completely cured my issues. if rebuilding the...

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

Pull the carb apart and see if there is any damage or corrosion from being stored with fuel. Does the existing carb have an H screw ? Some of them didn’t have a high side adjustment IIRC and definitely check all rubber. Fuel and impulse lines. Intake boot and crank seals

Stihl br420c backpack blower wont start

Where did you buy the cylinder and piston? You may want to exchange it for another, or return it and watch for a good oem P&C on eBay. Unless the carb is so out of whack that it won’t run it sounds like it’s just low on compression. 80lbs is too low. My 420 is all original, I’ll throw a...

Stihl br420c backpack blower wont start

A BR420c is an old blower, I own one. I believe you are talking about a compression test, what you need to do is a pressure and vacuum test where you block off the intake and exhaust with rubber and manually pump up the crankcase with a Mityvac. 80 psi sounds very low for compression. You may...

    Stihl MS362 owners

I upgraded mine several years ago. I have an early 2010 362. I believe there was a thread on it here somewhere complete with pics. I had to buy several parts, and they weren’t cheap. I also had to buy the mtronic top cover because the standard carb cover wouldn’t clear the air filter.

Flywheel Removal with Threaded Puller versus "Hitting" the Crankshaft End

Yeah I’d just hold the saw up with one hand and give the crank a tap on the clutch side. As long as the flywheel wasn’t lined up with the coil, it usually just falls off Probably the worst way to do it, the shock travels through everything I would imagine.

Flywheel Removal with Threaded Puller versus "Hitting" the Crankshaft End

I guess I’ve gotten lucky. In the past I have always just smacked the other end of the crank with a ball peen hammer and the flywheel would just pop off. Done this with a bunch of saws and never had a problem. I didn’t think it was a big deal really, I never had to pound on them very hard...
