    Stihl sucks at customer service

Date of build on sticker is correct . Ser # starts with #1 so made in Germany . Virginia Beach is Stihl USA headquarters . Run it 40:1

Stihl 028 super rebuild went bad

If you haven't installed it check the piston ring gap . Good luck with that 028 , great saw......my youngest son has 4 of them.

What do you keep in your first aid kit?

My youngest son is a PA in the military , he grabs me some out dated field dressings and coagulant once in a while . Says if they are past the use date and they are sealed nothing wrong with them. Saw chain makes one damn nasty wound.

What's your favorite chain size for 50 cc saws?

Good seeing Bob in that chain comparison video , I worked with him at Stihl Canada for many years.....a great guy . Something to consider with trying to run full 3/8" chain on saws below 60cc is the pressures on your clutch side crank bearing . If the saw is struggling with it you are over...

    Dolmar 421problem

OP I read through this whole mess and while you did get a saw that had issues your manner and attitude in handling this whole thing leaves one saying....."really"? There is not a thing wrong with this NEW replacement saw except how you see it in your mind , get over it .

    Chainsaw pet peeves?

A person convince that they must have their stock saw ported for it to be a good saw .

    Dolmar 421problem

If the saw was checked out by Ford150 I would keep it , don't let the fact it was assembled in China bug you . I'm sure Dolmar or Makita is on top of QC . I have a 421 Dolmar and it's awesome , have a 501 Echo as well and it's a great saw too but if you already have a 50cc why have 2 ?

    Dolmar 421problem

Bottom line is that the dealer is the one who makes a product look good or bad by how they look after a customer . Unfortunately the OP in this case did not realise just how bad this dealer was at proper servicing and being honest . Thankfully Makita did come thru in the end to take care of it .

    Dolmar 421problem

Having been on the inside with Stihl Canada in the tech dept. we had to deal with these same situations where the customer was unhappy and the dealer totally messed up . In most cases we would do the repair in house and it was done right , rarely did a saw get replaced unless the cause of the...

Ya gotta love the big P series Pioneers

Got to say even that hardly used P38 I picked up back in the summer impressed me with the amount of torque it has , you can lean on it and it just cuts . Got to fix the oiler on it , not working for some reason .

CS 400 oil leak near oil reservoir

That cap likely helps hold the AV in place , I know the do with Stihl saws .

CS 400 oil leak near oil reservoir

That cap is just for that anti vibe rubber , part # is 10091060030 O ring for the oil cap is #90072100025 I have a few Echo's but not a 400 , heard they are a decent saw tho....good luck .

CS 400 oil leak near oil reservoir

If it's still under warrany take it to the Echo dealer . Can't see why it would leak oil from there , that's an anti vib and I'm pretty sure that screw holds it there . Is the O ring on the oil cap OK ? , it may be leaking there . Also , be a good idea to blow that saw clean .

Stihl MS441 pulled from sales. 461 priced at 441 price

I wonder if the 441 has not been meeting EPA specs ?

    Chainsaw Purchase

Whatever you decide a saw should be considered a long term purchase so study up and get the best you can afford .

    Chainsaw Purchase

Husky and Stihl a good choice but as someone mentioned take a look at the Echo CS-590 Timberwolf at 59.8cc , a pro built saw and 5 year warranty . I think they can be bought for around $400 in the USA . You may find one of your dealers has Echo too or one nearby . Good luck with your purchase :D

    New Member From Canada!

Thomas , Hammy He's south in Lincoln , he's in the military . He's coming this way this week (Ontario) , I'm giving him a new Echo CS-490 to take home to NB as he's burning wood now since he moved from ON this past summer . Plans on buying wood from loggers and bucking/splitting himself .
