    Home Advisor Review

They surprised me. I called to cancel my service and explained the situation. They refunded half of my yearly fee, all of the lead fees that i bitched about, and gave me some free leads.

    Home Advisor Review

I am putting this in 101 forum because it is more for the beginning tree companies. If it needs moved to the business section, please move it. It's been awhile since I've seen a post about Home Advisor, but I'm sure one will come around again soon. RUN, DON"T WALK, AWAY FROM HOME ADVISOR I was...

    First Stump Grinder Advice

I don't think you'll be happy with any of those listed. If i had to choose from those, I'd go with the 252. They're all underpowered and you'll wish you bought something bigger. However, if you're doing all small stumps and rent larger when needed, I'd go with the 252.

    661C won't idle

I must have the world's biggest piece of crap 661. It started off where it was just very weak and would barely run. I could run a 25" bar in a piece of dead maple and it would turn so slow that I could count the cutters as they went by. My Echo 600P regularly out cuts this thing. Anyways, none...

How many people here started their business part time?

Be careful if choosing a partner. If you need a partner, make sure that they have skills or traits that you do not. They also need to have the same goal. Hold them accountable to hold up their end of the bargain.

Drop Start, no, yes, when, never.

I realize that some saw handles are different, but using my right heel on the handle or knee on top of the saw and my left hand on the top handle has worked well with every make of saw I've used. It keeps my right arm tucked in tight when i pull the rope. ***it's not as awkward as the pictures...

    Tree ID help

Can someone help me identify this tree? It gets white flowers in the summer. The berries are currently green and round, they don't pucker on the end like a blueberry. I'm guessing it's a dogwood of sorts.

    Starting my own tree business

My brother-in-law and I own a small tree removal service. We are not full time and we are not rich by any means. With that being said, take that into consideration to what I'm saying. As far as advertising goes, I will add that word of mouth is going to be the most advantageous to you. Make...

The highly valuable black walnut tree thread

I can't believe I stumbled across this thread today. I was just griping on Facebook about highly valuable Walnut. Another person offered me all of the wood in exchange for removal, cleanup, and stump removal. I just showed them a picture of my burn pile with Walnut in it. They couldn't believe...

What kind of hitch is used to attach the lowering device?

    Arbor Master climbing class...any thoughts?

I've never heard of this class, but I took a class from ACRT in Akron, OH. It was well worth it. Similar pricing for a 5 day course. We went over a lot of safety and performed an aerial rescue.

    Modified 660 vs. new 661

Thanks. I actually wound up getting one hell of a deal on a NIB 661, cheaper than the 660.

    Modified 660 vs. new 661

    Yes, they are oem parts.

    Modified 660 vs. new 661

I am currently looking to buy a new saw. I have the option to buy a modified 660 (dual port muffler, limiters removed, ported and polished head, new piston and cylinder, etc...) for 3 hundred less than a brand new 661 R. The shop that modded the 660 will give me a year warranty just like on a...

    Linden Basswood risk

I may just have to find someone close enough to come out and check it out. I had thought about taking the two problem ones out and going that the other two will be fine. But with the way they grew, the trunks are wider than the base.

    Linden Basswood risk

I know that I cannot get a great assessment based off of a few pictures, but here goes. I am concerned about these trees. The void where the two trees join, in the second picture, is between the to two stems on the right side of the bottom picture. This hole is about 4 feet deep and spongy on...

Saturday Morning Farmer's Market---- Bowls and Mushrooms

It is cool to watch someone carve. I'd probably lop off a finger.

Curious Question about tuning up a chainsaw

I tend to be free labor when it comes to my wife's friends' vehicles. I've done a lot of work for nothing, simply because I enjoy it. Used to do a lot of setup and repair on guitars also. I understand about not making any money or opening shop, I just didn't understand what you meant by doing ok...
