Can only speak for my CH980 that replaced a Ch740 on the stumpy. It ran only 250hrs so far but oil consumption is not noticable, no smoke, full power.

I try to avoid using my stihl combi as much as possible, it really vibes like crazy. Pretty much prefer the Honda 435 over the stihl, so smooth but a heavy lump. As av gloves I use tegera, expensive but worth it.

Stumper63, probably it's the same parker-motor as in a 252, I don't see any problems by taking it to hydro shop... You see, you should have kept your old, abidingly 252. I'm sure it would have been a pleasure for her to help you out in this situation:)

Each machine acts different and has a learning curve. When I started out, I clocked around 600hrs on my machines before I felt that there was no further improvement in my grinding technique. Till that point, I paid many expensive lessons. Still there are some left today.
