Calibrated eyeballs for exact 18" cuts ??

Tie-wrap it! I use a big tie-wrap wrapped around the wrap-around , cut to length from the bar, makes sense right! its cheap, flexible, very durable, pivots out the way, easily replaceable and any length-adaptable. I sure thought everybody used that method except my BIL. Anyway it works slick...

salesman says.....hmmmmm I'd read the instructions from the stove manufacturer and stick to it... sure it has been done on occasion and sometimes works well but would not put my money on it, besides 6" is so standard you won't have any trouble selling it! anyway careful on that on, it seems...

    Felling/Back cut help needed.

level yes but to the tree you obviously have lots of chainsaw experience but not much felling, all above answers are right on except on one detail; what is meant by level back cut is a cut that is 90degrees to the tree, now if you have leaning tree that cut should still be 90degrees to the tree...

i wouldn,t count on the BBB until there is a court case against this guy, as for ISA i,m amazed they don,t investigate and bite if need be, it seems to say a lot about ISA... its unfortunate that unlike in the U.S. there,s no incentive to sue in this case...:(

Wood stove hack-secondary burn tubes added

hot oxygen-rich air it is guesstimated that about one third of the wood's potential heat is lost in smoke in older wood stoves. so an "easy" way to get more bang for the same buck woulb be to find a way to ignite that smoke. thats where the air tubes come in play; they provide oxygen-rich air...
