    192T vs. 192TC (Andy?)

Thanks for the reply! Usually I have no problems with Stihl's letter ID system, but this one has me baffled. Like I know that "T" stands for "Top Handle", but I can't figure out the "C". And no, this one doesn't have the Quick Chain Adjust, so that can't be it. I did see on Stihl's site where...

    192T vs. 192TC (Andy?)

I found a Stihl MS12TC in the pawn shop today for $90. The only thing I could see wrong with it is that it is has a broken brake handle. My buddy has a 192T. I have looked on the Stihl site and can't find any info on what the difference is between the T and the TC. Can anybody tell me? And if...

Sound off! Saws we love to hate!

Worst saw I ever owned was one of those Mini Mac things. It vibrated so bad that my hands would go numb in only a couple of minutes of running. And I agree that pretty much any newer Poulan is a POS! My aunt bought a yellow Poulan Pro a couple of years ago cheap at the local Rural King. Bragged...

    Saws I want. YOU???

As far as "dream" or "collection" saws, I'd love to have a twin cylinder and a rotary. As for a "user", I could really go for a nice MS200T or even a sweet deal on a good used 192T.

    Question for the Stihl experts......

Hopefully somebody like Andy has an answer for me. I have a newer white/orange Stihl 011AVT "saw in a box" kit that I'm wanting to fix up if I can find the parts I need cheap enough. But what I need to know is in regard to the correct carb that is supposed to be on it. I notice that the IPL list...

    More eBay craziness.......

Am I the only one wondering what would make an MS361 worth $800?!?! There is a "new" MS361 0n fleabay right now that has almost a day to go and is up to $790. Can somebody explain this one to me? I don't understand what it is about fleabay that would make someone pay almost $200 more for this...

Have an old 015L and 011

If you decide not to mess with the 011, let me know. I'm looking for one for parts to fix up my 011AVT.

    Facing a chainsaw bar

Agreed! That's the procedure I use, then I go back and do a final touch-up on the sides to remove any burrs left from the squaring at the disc. So belt, disc, then belt again.

    Facing a chainsaw bar

I use a bench-mounted belt/disc sander. I use the belt to remove the burrs from the sides of the rails, and the disc (with table set to 90 degrees) to square the tops of the rails to the sides. I use a medium grit on both the belt and the disc. These machines can be bought very reasonably thru...

084 - gettin it cranked without breaking a hand

Okay. I guess I can live with it, since otherwise I have no complaints about the saw. A minor issue to me. I just can't help but wonder what the cause is, tho.

    Installing a carb kit basics.........

Zama welch plugs I know most folks I've talked to don't use any sealer on the plugs in Walbro carbs, but I don't know what to do with this Zama. Andy, why has the sealer caused problems? Is it because of the sealer coming loose and plugging up passages? So you don't use sealer on the Zama...

084 - gettin it cranked without breaking a hand

MS250 kickback Yeah, my 250 kicks back too. Usually when first starting it cold on the first pull. Once it fires the first time, and I kick it down to high idle position, it's fine. Sometimes it will do it on a hot start too on the first pull, but if I have to pull it a second time it's...

What saw would YOU get with $800?

Sparks! We get that a lot around here with Elm! A lot of minerals in it. Dulls chains real quick! :censored: Leaves "clinkers" in your stove too...........

What saw would YOU get with $800?

Yep, I'd take a 361 with a 20" bar and two loops of RS, then I'd get a 24" bar and two loops of full-skip to go with it for the occasional bigger stuff. And I'd get some bar and mix oil with whatever was left.

    Old Power Mac: any good?

Thanks for the info, Gary! I'm wondering how the bar oil gets into the crankcase. The only way I can see that happening is thru the oil pump system maybe. I checked the ignition on it, and it does have a good spark. However while cleaning it up, I ran into another issue. The lower front of the...

    Dolmar 7900 complaints.

Dealer network suxs I wouldn't be adverse to trying a Dolmar. We had a Sachs-Dolmar many years ago, and it was a decent saw.............till the local dealer closed shop. But I'm not really interested in driving an hour one-way to get to a dealer now. Especially not when I've got a good Stihl...

    homelite super xl automatic

Thanks for the info! I was actually talking this afternoon with an older guy I've known for a long time who's worked on a lot of Homelites over the years. We got on the subject of Homies, and I mentioned that I wish I could get this SXL running again, but hadn't been able to find a coil for a...

    homelite super xl automatic

Sadly, the coils are the major weak spot of these saws. At least the electronic ignition versions anyway. From what I understand, there are two versions of the electronic coil, and the blue-colored one is more likely to fail than the other. And yes, they are hard to find and expensive. A local...
