how to deal with poison ivy covered trees?

Your not alone. It affects me very slightly. Like spend all day cutting them out with a saw, on a hot sweat or balls off day, and get a very minor rash on one arm only.... In some cases its best to sub some jobs out, or even refer to competition.

Looking for some advice on buying a John Deere 690b

at 5 its a maybe, its close enough to scrap price that all you will loose is 1500 and some time. Do you own torches, have something else to help lift? Are you mechanically inclined? As far as if the excavator is right for your outfit what do you do and what else do you have, and what is...

Looking for some advice on buying a John Deere 690b

Lets break it down. It already has the following problems, leaky cylinder which will only worsen unless fixed that could cost 500 - 2500, no gauges, how do you know it isn't running hot? The track drive leaks... if oil can get out dirt can get in, dirt kills them, they are not just expensive...

Looking for some advice on buying a John Deere 690b

RUN, RUN, RUN... in case you missed that, run! Finals on excavators are mega money, like 20k for 1 mega money. The b's are before everything was electronic so your better there, but the are not super common items. Look at the boom, its backwards of every other excavator out there, its...

    Repowering a vermeer 665a

just for stumper 32" cutter wheel, equipped with green teeth. To add the case I had to have a machinist make an adapter to put the belt pulley against the flywheel, its attached via longer flywheel bolts. Engine mounts are custom fabed outa angle iron. Radiator is a ford stock car 19" and...

    1986 Vermeer 630B teeth replacement

I just finished putting 900 series green teeth on my Vermeer 665a that's been re-powered by a 60 hp diesel. I've ground about 18 large spruce stumps so far with it, and I love them. After the 18 stumps aprox. 500 inches of stump, no visual amount of wear can be seen or felt. They cut long...

Stumps next to curb...think the bobcat will pop up the curb too?

I'll almost guarantee that the curb will be affected and if there is asphalt, the drive way too, maybe not immediately, but over the next winter the driveway will crack. This would be cause by the void you leave under the driveway coupled with frost and traffic. What about an alpine magnum...

    Repowering a vermeer 665a

well except for the inconvience of two motors, the the thing runs good. Did a 24" spruce stump, about 10" high in 20 minutes with teeth so dull they were smoking, going to get on the phone tomorrow and order a set of green teeth and pockets, prolly the 900 series. Then we will really be able...

    Repowering a vermeer 665a

So its not completely fine tuned, but the machine cut its first stump today in several years. Due to the lack of a suitable hydraulic pump on the case motor, and the belt drivin Vermeer pump not being able to lift the new and improved machine, the hydraulics are now ran by a little 6.5 hp motor...

What teeth / wheel for modified vermeer 665a

I have a vermeer 665A w/ a 32" wheel. Going thru the unit completely and fixing it up and upgrading the power plant as well. Was a winconsin gas, now a case diesel. Gained a couple hp, and alot of torque. I understand that cutting wheels dont last forever and this one has some hours on it...

    Ford Industrial Engines

Ford's industrial line used alot of parts from the automotive line especially in the wear item department. Things like filters, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, head gasket, and such are all available thru your local napa or auto parts store of your choice.

convert stump slayer to hydraulic drive

If your going to convert to hydro drive, get your wallet out... Not only will you need a pump on the motor, but also the proper drive motor for the cutter wheel, and a hydraulic tank and filter, and probably a hydraulic oil cooler cause motors create alot of heat. Just stick with the belt...

    Repowering a vermeer 665a

So I found a vermeer 665a w/ a blown wisconsin v465d & a spare v460 that didnt run for a good price the other day. Now I don't appreciate gas motors for much of anything, especially air cooled ones that are hard to get parts for... Step one, swapped stump grinding for a case g188d diesel...

hotrod chain saw build / buy

ok, so on a bike saw, other than mounting the bar, the chain is ran directly off the output shaft of the motor right? I'm not making a processor for just cutting a load of poles a year, I'm designing one for commercial production. My production goal is as fast as possible, but ill settle for...

hotrod chain saw build / buy

Glad I found someone that know more about what I want to do than me... Do you two want to share your wisdom? Or are you two just certified members of the naysayers club? Again, because of the hyraulic requirements of the splitter ram, 60 gpm @ 3,000 psi & the need to keep my cycle times...

Best place to live and do tree work

Where you are right now. I think that alot of what makes a tree biz successful is reputation, not location. In my experience, those with the good reputations in this line of work are always in demand. Even more so than some of the other trades, due to the demands of the job.
