Interesting how Oak trees hold onto their leaves

native beliefs Native americans thought of oaks as the leaders of the plant world, they are strong and hold on to life no matter what. This is why they keep their leaves, natives used oak medicine for people that seemed to no longer want to hold on to life and felt like giving up. It was also...

Can you use the crane hook as your t.i.p.and rigging point?

interresting point, as long as you are going to ride the piece out, other wise, if staying in the tree, you will not be able to retrieve your climbing line (unless you bring another with you) but in that case the crane operator would have to deal with your SRT climbing line hanging down from the...

    GRCS owners

sorry i should have worded this better in the Art and Science of Practical Rigging they go over what i am trying to explain. Say you were attaching the Portawrap to a tree with an eye sing, you went around the tree counterclockwise with the sling ran it around the splice eye (that is girth...

Can the GRCS be loaded in any direction? for example; the port-a-warap III should not be loaded against the bite of the sling, limiting it from being able to load in that direction. Does the GRCS have a similar factor like this or can it be loaded in any direction?

    What rope to you prefer

"Please note that Amsteel Blue behaves differently than normal rope and maintains the most strength when used with a spliced termination. Tied knots may severely reduce the breaking strength of Amsteel Blue." (wesspur.com) Amsteel blue is not a climbing line!

What kind of saddle are you using?

my saddles i use a butterfly II and also a weaver double sliding D indiv. leg straps. The BII is amazing, forms to my body like nothing i have ever tried, it has a perfect width backpad and is super light. The Weaver was tough at first but as soon as it was broken in it became a great saddle...

    Removal....Climbing Line With Spurs...?

Spikes! hands down (for me anyway) have the spikes on, its the fastest way up the tree to set your line, plus you can start the removal (in many cases) on the way up to set your line. There have been very few cases where i found setting the line from the ground would be faster then spiking up...
