Inevitably, these threads always deteriorate down to somebody asking "who did it?" And then the Internet lynch mob comes out...
... Not saying this guy doesn't deserve it, but before you air your public grievance you might consider just bringing it up casually to him to see what he says. I agree...
Somebody mind giving me a short walk-through on how to remove the piston and cylinder on this ? It's a 944 xl. I've got a donor saw (xl925) that's got a good p&c that I can put in here. This use to be one of my favorite saws to run and it's been sitting in my shop for a couple of years now...
Sweet saw, I have the same thing, but it's green and says John Deere 80v. Should be the same spring as 701 and 702.
If you still can't find one, you might try a spring for a pioneer p41, p40. I'm betting it's close to the same size.
I think most people bid with shipping in mind. Ive been asked before to give credits back on overcharging for shipping, the problem is, if my shipping calculator is off, then that affects how much people are willing to bid. If I had lower shipping prices, then the bid amount would go higher.
Truly an under-appreciated saw. I have one of these, a Pioneer P60, and a Husky 2100CD. All 99cc saws, all three with 32" bar. I grab the Mac more often than not.
I've got a parts saw that should have a good p&c. Fell off the back of a truck and it's not cost effective to buy all the parts to get it back up and running. Are you interested in the whole saw or just the piston and cylinder ?
Super piston is 54mm. 56mm piston would indicate a magnum or magnum 2. Does it have spark ? These models are known for troublesome ignition coils. I've had a half dozen of these or so and usually the spark determines their fate if they become parts or builders.
That is awesome. Thanks for shedding some light on it Mark. So if I'm understanding you correctly, I can tell if my saws are partner saws or mcculloch saws based on the steel spacer ring on the bar stud ?
Also, if I don't have the partner studs with the spacer ring can I use the d009 bar ? I...
Yeah I hope I didn't derail this thread. I'm just confused myself. I can't find any specs on the bar mount other than what acres listed. Highly possible that it is a d176 and mine is having other issues.
I guess there's no substitute for heading out to the shop tomorrow and taking some...
Interesting... I just picked up one of these too and I thought it took a d176 also. I put one on and it doesn't seem to oil very well. Acres site lists it as an Oregon d005. I've also heard that it's a d276 bar mount which is a lot harder to find. I guess a lot of guys use large mount husky bars...
Sprocket is questionable. The saw vibrates more than it should. All my fuel here at the house is mixed at 40:1 so I need to get some more fuel and go heavier on the oil so I can do some more testing. I runs, but rough. I'll continue to tinker with it and hopefully get it dialed in.
