    Hourly Rate for Boxer525

    2000 hours times $85 equals $170,000 not $17,000.

For those looking for cheap log moving devices...

Yeah they are but that beast was pretty hollow. I think the whole pick in one piece weighed in at under 6,000 if I remember correctly.

Nice I'd like to do that this year with my 16 footer after I get some real sides on it. Would make getting big logs off the job much easier when the ground is hard.

Keeping it close definitely makes a huge difference! With the BMG you can get some big ones up if you get them behind the heel plate far enough. I think both grapples have their place on different jobs though.

I think you'll be one of the only "pros" here who actually believes this, but I hope you have a beautiful day!

You can definitely see where it would have it's place for someone!

Just because this specific tool wouldn't work in your arsenal doesn't mean it's for the homeowner section. I didn't know you already had a spec sheet on this tools capabilities. And being a "Pro" doesn't have anything to do with your physical abilities or your equipment, I'm not sure who told...

Sorry Canopy I swear I didn't even see your post yesterday! We're basically thinking the same things though I see.

To me and you it's pretty dumb. To somebody who is starting out low on cash and tired of breaking their back it might not be. I've seen many threads open with new guys looking for alternative methods for moving big wood on long drags who can't afford a mini or full size loader yet. This isn't...

    Hourly Rate for Boxer525

A lot of good math points are already stated here, and it's going to vary based on your own situation. However, I agree with "no tree to big" on the fact that more often than not it is just making your life a lot easier and not actually bringing in a higher rate per job. It is your own...

Stump grinder options and mini skids

Yeah I've never personally run one, but it seems like that is the only one worth owning for a mini mounted grinder. Everything else seems to work like a heavy duty weed wacker for stumps. But for $12,000 I'm sure the OP can find a much better suited unit within his budget since he doesn't...

Stump grinder options and mini skids

I sub all of my stumps out and make a cleanup day out of a few of them at a time with my dingo and 16' low pro dump trailer. I charge at least as much to haul the grindings as the stump grinding itself cost and I can use the dingo and BMG every day on tree jobs.

    Nicked my rigging rope

The 10 feet of rope or the $150.00 to buy a replacement rope are not worth killing a crew member or damaging your customer's property. I refuse to use any rope with a "nick" in it. Some guys here will tell you differently I'm sure, but none of it is worth it to me.

    whadja do today?

Knocked down some dead ash with the 82 footer earlier this week.

Considering reducing crew size to one

I run by myself again after just one year of having employees. If it's a massive job I just sub it out. You make just as much after cutting costs as a few have said above. Nothing is worse than writing checks for employer/payroll taxes and workers comp for employees who don't have a care in...

    nifty lift

I've rented both the sd64 and an 82' working height ommelift. They are similar in weight at around 8,500 lbs, but the ommelift can fit on one sheet of plywood lengthwise which will be a big time saver with loading and unloading 1/2 the plywood every time. The tracks do leave marks in even hard...

    whadja do today?

There's probably no use in trying to get that off of your shaft now. If it's on there like that the shaft is most likely too worn to reuse anyways. You should be able to beat that shaft out of your wheel and replace it. I just replaced the bearings and shaft in my vermeer 1220 and the three...
