    14" bar on a Stihl MS261?

Actually.... I might have only one option here unless I want to change the sprocket out too. Going Oregon SpeedCut 325 Micro Chisel chain + 15" SpeedCut bar is the only 7 tooth sprocket option....my saw is a 7.

    14" bar on a Stihl MS261?

Looks like they have the same size offerings as Stihl for Stihls. Like SAWMIKAZE asked, do they have a size that will mount-up to the MS261? ....of course I can pick up the phone and ask them later. Cannon and Oregon happen to have decent parts matchers on their websites. These are the...

    14" bar on a Stihl MS261?

Yeah, discovered that with my Stihl dealer. Smallest way to go OEM is a 16" bar on the 261.

    14" bar on a Stihl MS261?

After calling around and Googling I can't find much about going shorter than 16" on the MS261. Stihl does't make a bar that short for the pro saws. Does anyone know which Oregon, Husky, Sugi, etc. would match up the most seamlessly? Changing the sprocket isn't a big deal.

    The Wallenstein Skidding Winch is...

Not that this post is overly helpful toward the Inglad stuff, but I weighed quite a few of them to the point of "whocaresjustbuyone"-ism. Unlike so many of the other things I bought/want like: zero turn mower, tractor itself, side by side, chainsaws, lumber mill, and all my garage toys the...

Wood splitting debate. Maul vs splitter

My body appreciates the burning of dead dinosaurs to get the job done. As an added bonus, the better half will get on the hydraulic splitter. She ain't touching a maul.

    The Wallenstein Skidding Winch is...

The 3 hangers The aftermath consisted of a throw rope about halfway up the far left tree followed by some Wallenstein action to drop it without crushing anything else. Then the other two were dropped with the Stihl method. Easier to skid than buck ;)

    The Wallenstein Skidding Winch is...

My first skidding of a decent sized log. After taking the photo I figured out how to better position the winch and chain for a safer skid. But damn does the FX90 make things easy. Tomorrow I'm going to throw it at a trio of unsafe leaners to see if I can at least unbunch their canopies. It...

Wood heat + central air in large house

I only want to stick it to the propane company. They're rapists.

Wood heat + central air in large house

Soooooo, basically what we're now looking to do is to take advantage of the fans that push the propane heat around to move the wood furnace heat through the house. We'll keep the propane off unless we absolutely need it (or become lazy on throwing logs into the furnace), but think the heat...

Wood heat + central air in large house

Yes, the propane is forced air central heating over 4 zones with 2 furnaces. We added 3 heat pumps last year and simply set the propane temps a few degrees lower than the heat pumps'. It all works together very well and is damn simple! When the weather drops below 0 (which was nearly 6 weeks...

    Stihl 261 reliability.

To be honest, I didn't get into too much detail with the dealer. I was in the middle of completing some orders for attachments on my tractor (they're a Stihl, John Deere, Honda store) and just grabbed the saw on the way out the door. Have worked with them so long I just assume if it works when...

    The Wallenstein Skidding Winch is...

...F'n bad to the bone! Just got mine before Labor Day Weekend kicked off and used it to celebrate doing labor without the same kind of labor I used to apply. Admittedly, I didn't do any photo-worthy or super cool work to show. I got started on cleaning a bunch of left-over canopy cuts from...

    Stihl 261 reliability.

After a year of use I discovered a leak of bar oil sitting under my saw two weeks ago. Couldn't figure out what it was so I took it to my dealer who found one of the seals had gone bad. Fixed it under warranty and had me running again within 5 days (most of that time was waiting on a part)...

Wood heat + central air in large house

Thanks for the continued suggestions everyone. And agreed, National Stove Works looks interesting. Sorry if I confused things a little. On our main floor we have an outdoor kitchen that is enclosed with cinder block and concrete. The exact same construction is just beneath that and it is...

Wood heat + central air in large house

Just wanted to put a quick thank you out to those who lent a hand in this thread. We decided to put off the wood-burning stove last winter to figure out what we really had with the new (they were new last year) heat pumps. Those were pretty amazing, but we still ended up using more propane...

    ATV skidder

Nice and handy! I'm looking pretty hard at the logrite ATV skidder. For the stuff around here that is sounding like the way to go. Expensive $$$.
