    Old Monarch Add-On-Furnace

I have an old Monarch add on furnace in my garage. My grandfather installed it in the garage back in the late 80's early 90's (this was their home before they passed). I know nothing about it, and don't remember him ever using it (although it does show signs of use) I would like to heat the...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

I know he had a big stihl, but don't know the model.

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

That was the only chainsaw he currently had for sale, but he may have more in the future he said. He just wasn't sure he was ready to part with his better saws. He did have a Hitachi and Black and Decker miter saws for sale, along with a really nice homemade trailer. He said if he sold anything...

    Homelite SXL newbie

Welp, i bought another chainsaw today... a stihl 029 for 50.00 dollars. Is in great shape and runs excellent. I haven't used the Homelite much since this post, but plan to polish it up and put it on the shelf since its in such nice shape.. and has sentimental value.

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

Very true.... although i have the hoarding disease that was generational handed down to me..... i may just need to keep this one, and add a third saw to my collection ;) I mean, collecting chainsaws must be harmless.... i only know one guy that collects them.. and he only has a small...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

Hmmmmm.... maybe i will do some of the mods for ***** and giggles... looks like it might be fun. I won't be using the saw very often... atleast for now. In the near future I'll be cutting some stuff on the property to help clean it up.

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

Thanks! I probably won't mess with the muffler mod unless it makes a noticeable difference. I do want to clean it up though. I'll add some simple green, an air filter and a fuel filter to my shopping list for the week. I think i have spare muffler bearings in the cabinet with my blinker fluid...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

Air filter does look pretty dirty. Any way to determine year? The mill does look like it was used, although lightly. No clue where the aluminum rail for it is. I have a garage that is roughly 40×80, my grandfather managed to cram it full of stuff from 1940 till the day he passed... so im...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

I'm going to replace the oil, fuel, and air filter, and spark plug. Is there anything else i should change while doing this? Are the "aftermarket " kits any good? Parts on ebay aeem really cheap, wasn't sure about quality though. Lastly... i couldn't find anything on the muffler mod. What does...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

The guy said he used to trim trees professionally, he supposedly hurt his back a few years ago and needed to get rid of some stuff. He was an older guy, seemed honest. I plan on draining it and cleaning it up. I thought about using some simple green, anyone have any other suggestions?

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

My Homelite was as close to new as one could get. We think grandpa bought it and used it once. I have the original receipt from the small store he bought it from new in/around the late 80's early 90's. It had 0 chips, scratches, or even dirt on it, and had 98% of the original paint on the...

    Stihl 029 - good deal?

Hi, i was on my way home today and noticed a guy with some saws for sale in his yard. I picked up a solid looking 029 with a 18" bar and bar cover for what i thought was a helluva deal. It fires up on the first pull and came with a full tank of fuel and bar oil too lol. I paid $50.00 for it...

    Homelite SXL newbie

I also forgot to ask... since the saw has been sitting so long, what kind of maintenance should I do? I haven't done anything except add gas, bar oil, and some sweat.... It does need a new spark plug boot, as this one is cracked, although it seems to run fine and hasn't effected it yet. Thanks...

    Homelite SXL newbie

Very nice! Just curious... what mixture fuel do you guys run in your Homelites? I'll need to pick up some oil sometime soon, and will need to mix up a new batch. I currently have 32:1 mixed... but I wasn't sure if these saws run better at a different ratio. Any clue what year mine might be...

    Homelite SXL newbie

Thank you for all of the quick replies. I used it to cut a few fallen tree's and to trim limbs off of one of my large pine tree's. The saw had been sitting, without being run for roughly... 15+ years... maybe longer. I was very shocked that it fired up so quickly. I just pulled the plug, sprayed...

    Homelite SXL newbie

I inherited my grandfathers red super xl. I believe it is a newer model and it is in really good shape. I doubt its even broken in yet. I was curious how good these saws are, if parts are hard to find, and if I can change bars/size? Any help is greatly appreciated.
