    Splitter wings

I decided to weld some wings on my wedge to make it a 4-way, since 99% of the wood I have left needs split into quarters at least. I ran about 2 cords through it today and it seems to work fairly well, although I have noticed some friction/drag between the beam and underside of the wings.

    In theory which is stronger

I'm in the planning process of building a new splitter. I have a couple ideas but I want to run one past you guys. We all know how hydraulic works and how powerful it is, but what about mechanical screw power? I have a lot of 1 3/4 inch fully threaded drill steel laying around. It's a course T45...

    Nice little pile of walnut

Went out to do a quick drive through of our magsite this afternoon and I found a nice pile of black walnut someone had dumped on the side of the lane leading to the site. So I decided i had better give it a good home

Saw running with plug wire off!?

Can someone explain this to me? I'm milling away and the saw kinda stutters for a second, but then keeps going strong. I glance at the power head and notice the plug wire is completely off the plug. So I let off the trigger and she goes to idle. How is it still idling away like nothings wrong?

    Got a good load

Got a good load of Doug fir last weekend, about 2 cords in the truck. I was hoping to back up to the mountains his weekend for more, but work and the weather had other ideas. I need to get back up there at least one more time before the snow stops me for the year

Dragster gas work for a work saw??

I have access to about 55 gallons of C21 and C 23 race gas, it's a few years old and it stuff my boss doesn't want to run in his dragster, says the gas is too old for that motor. Anyway he was just going to burn it but said if I could use it I could have it. Is it usable in a saw? If mixed...

    Dry cedar??

so I have a bunch of 50-60 year old cedar coming in for free. They are old power poles, 55' length and have been drying in the sun while holding up power lines for the last 50+ years. Only the bottom 10' are treated the rest is great. I know they'll burn like paper, but what do you guys think...

Why do we do what we do??

So I've been thinking the last few days, why do we do what we do? I know we all need to make a living, we all have bills to pay and families to feed, but I'm talking deeper than that. For example, it was 5 degrees this morning with 20+ mph winds. I Run an old air track, no cab, just me and the...

Well I've been lurking around for awhile, I've asked a few questions, got some premium advice and have become addicted to the site. I figure I better introduce myself any saws. I'm pretty much a husky guy, I have a 141, 55 rancher, a 272xp and a spare 272xp for parts. I have a 288xp that is...

so I irdered a 285 off evil bay to replace the crank in my 2101. This 285 is in decent shape. What's the diff between the 2. Can I put my 2101 jug and slug on the 285 and flywheel and magneto or is that a waste of time?

    Husqvarna 288xp pukes fuel

ok I have a 288xp. Last fall it quit running all of a sudden. I took it apart and cleaned everything. Put it all together and it ran fine. Went out then next day to cut, tried to start it and wouldn't start. Every time I pulled the rope gas would come out the decompression valve and the muffler...

    2101 build tips

Ok I waiting for parts for my husqvarna 2101. I saw a pic of a muffler with "louvers" on the front. My muffler has a round opening on the break side and a square on the front that looks like it would be a perfect place for these louvers. If I did this would I gain anything? Also I've heard you...

    2101xp bearings

Well my 2101 locked up last weekend. The crankshaft bearings are toast and so is the needle bearing that the connecting rod rides on on the crank. I got it all pressed apart and the junk cleaned out, but the bore of the connecting rod seems a little out of round and looks a little chewed up...
