    Husky 365 or Stihl 391

Nice score man! You clearly made the right choice.

What is a good 1st saw

Agreed. A 40cc saw is perfect for a beginner.

Husqvarna 272xp vs 372xp tell me everything!

Better move quick, they are slated to announce the 572 later this month...

    Does Walnut make good firewood??

I like black walnut for shoulder and firepit wood. It works up easy and dries relatively fast. And it smells great. It does pop and spit though, but it doesn't create showers of sparks like mulberry does. Definitely produces more ash than oak and maple. I like to split it small and use it...

    Peavey

The Logrite/Stihl tools are very nice. I have 48 and 60" cant hooks in orange and they are very well made.

    Nice little pile of walnut

Black walnut makes decent shoulder season or firepit wood and it dries quickly...I never turn it down!

    461 vs the 391

I had a self proclaimed logger tell me once that the 391 was a better saw than a 461. I laughed and walked away.

346XP Needs Porting - NE or OE

I couldn't imagine having a pipe on a work saw...that just seems silly to me.

    Stihl MS270 running awful...dealer clueless

I worked on a 270 a while back that gave me fits. I rebuilt the carb and put a new fuel line in. It still ran rough with an unstable idle, and I noticed that it would change depending on whether it was being held or sitting on the ground. Found a torn intake boot...replaced that and thought...

What kind of wood am I splitting?

Nice score, one of my favorite trees to cut!

I got the Stihl Flippy Cap woes

Flippy caps are an over engineered answer to a problem that never existed. And at $8 a pop they aren't real cheap when they inevitably break or leak.

    Throughing dust

Those ported 390s definitely sling some chips! Here's a video of mine tearing through some black locust.

Neat saws, but they definitely have a niche use.

    28" .404 chain test - Tree Monkey 661

It's crazy how the RS loads the saw up so much more...it's definitely some sticky sharp, aggressive chain out of the box.

    OEM or Meteor

Meteor piston, caber rings(if the piston doesn't come with cabers), OEM clips.

    Stihl 441...yes or no?

Yeah, for $300 you have room for repairs and still in the ballpark. I'd buy it if you needed a bigger saw.

    Fuel additive/ethanol killer

Stabilizers are great and all but they don't remove ethanol from the fuel...the only surefire way to prevent issues with ethanol is to find E-free fuel or mix water with the fuel and decant the ethanol/water solution. I do think Startron is a good product and I use it myself. But I'm careful...

Are All MS 260s Created Equal?

Older ones had a more open muffler...check to see how many holes are under the deflector. I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor though, a more "muffled" muffler can be easily opened up. I would keep the newer one...seals less likely to need replaced.
