You don't need to screw in you LA screw a little do you? Should be able to turn that screw in till the chain starts to move, then back till the chain is at a standstill.

I would start with turning in the L screw 1/8 of a turn. Leaning it out in other words. That should take care of you bogging down when you rev it. Might have to do it twice. That might take care of you dying problem also.

Also might check your flywheel key. Make sure it is not sheared.

I'm not sayin that he didn't flood it, but if he took the carb off, it should be empty!

Something else I would try, is see where your carb screws are sitting at. Just turn your screw till they are lightly seated, watching to see how much of a turn it takes. You will probably have to take off those limiter caps to do so. If it is way off, I usually try it first at 1 turn out on...

If it were mine, I take a look into the carb. Check your screen and inlet needle. Definitely wouldn't hurt to put a carb kit in, but you could probably check it out without one first. Also, when you had the muffler off, did you take a look into the cylinder? What does the piston look like?

Jonsered 70e chain tightens and loosens while moving by hand.

Looks like your chain catcher. Stops the chain if it throws one.

    Drop starting saws

I usually start mine locked in my knee. I can handle it well there, don't have to bend over, and saves on the starter! I don't have any problems starting one there.
