This is what I did to the top of the piston for spark plug clearance. Went a little to deep but I got a spare piston if things don't look OK once a piston wash gets developed.

Best to angle your exhaust to the clutch cover side. Straight forward in a long cut will get the tree pretty hot. Most guys go out the top left corner , looking at the muffler.

Turn the 340 into a poor man's 346xpne with a new P&C

You could also put a OEM 357 top end on the same saw. Some guys like the porting on the 357 better then the 359. Either one will get the job done. Nice saws

The XT limited coil is set for a lower rpm then the same coil that would be used on the 372xp model. I think the xt can be leaned out to 4 stroke but the rpm is actually past peak running rpm. It has something to do with the crank bearing load also from the heavier piston. I forget where I...

I would check the impulse line on the plastic carb mount , also if it has a plastic carb clamp, ditch that right away and get a metal one. From a 372 or even the thinnest hose clamp from a automotive store.
