    Stihl 044 oil pump on a ms361

Make sure pump doesn’t already have the 1128 PN on it. Some 361 came with the standard 046 pump from the factory. Others with the 1135 pump.

    Stihl 026 won’t run

This is a regular ported on, no fingers or 246 slug.

    Stihl 026 won’t run

Single centered ring pin allows for fingers or boost ports. Much wider skirts.

    Stihl 026 won’t run

The hottest I’ve done is with cutting the band flat and using a Husky 246 piston. Fed by 044 carb and boot.

    Stihl 026 won’t run

Is your jug oem? I’d like to know how you are exactly measuring your squish and timing numbers. For port timing, the only accurate way is with a pick and ring position (as pushed in jug by piston crown) after a zero’d in degree wheel. The second most accurate is using a micrometer and timing...

    Husqvarna 261

Make sure it’s not missing the grommet behind the pump. If saw was ever rebuilt, someone may have forgotten the part. Happened to me. Its a grommet that looks like a short piece of cut hose that goes between the pump and case. Make sure bar oiling holes cleaned and lined up. There are 2...

    028 super rebuild help

Can use some scotchbrite and WD40 in the bore. Don’t hone it in the traditional sense.

Want to Buy Stihl 056 Super Top End

Too bad, I only have the 56mm top. Don’t thunk it’s a Bolt On.

    Stihl 044 small issues

Check the crank spacer on the PTO side too. I’ve had one crack and cause an intermittent leak when it warmed up and expanded.

    Sthil 034 tensioning screw

You need to have a case machined for the side tensioner. Most standard 034 aren’t. just deal with it. Take the plate off the studs and post a pic of the case bar pad please.

Do you have to "Break In" a new chainsaw?

“Run it like you stole it” is what I have always done. Generally start it after build, adjust idle and H on the fatter side. Shut it off, let it cool for as long as it takes to get to a log, then beat on it. I always insure it’s not lean outa the cut or in the cut. Generally by the 3rd of 4th...

    Ms460 project :)

That jug may clean up. Personally I’d try some muriatic acid on a Qtip and carefully add to the areas of transfer. Keep a bucket of baking side solution nearby to neutralize. Be careful to watch the fizzing and make certain it’s not undermining the plating. Sand afterwards. Any high spots...

Carb High Jet Lean After Rebuild - How to Fix?

I’d pull the carb back apart. Clean all as instructed with carb cleaner. Make sure vent hole in metering cover plate is clean (Long shot). Sometimes carbs just have crap in them one can’t get out. It’s usually in the tiny pinhole L circuitry under the Welch plug and not the H circuit. If you...

    026 Identification

That’s a factory cylinder. I think it’s a 44mm and not a 44.7. There were many model changes in the line. I have personally seen metal tag 026 PRO saws. The red lever is wrong. Does it have a metal or plastic oil pump? The 180 compression seems high. Those jugs have a bigger chamber than...

    026 Grief

Would be fine. Just need to pull that key out before you put seal in.

Sold A Saw - Owner Returned It

Great job Tom. I’ve always thought that an enthusiast‘s integrity should be measured by their actions when things went south more than when all was a success. You did the right thing.

    026 Grief

If you tap one side of the seal in, the other side will pop out. Then just grab the edge that pops out with a pair of needle nose pliers. You have to remove the key from the crank before you put the seal in. In addition, measure seal depth and take a pic before u pull seal so that you know how...

    026 Grief

Grease oir squirt oil around flywheel side seal. You will need a puller to remove the flywheel. I bet it holds 15 inch of Hg, or you can watch the oil get sucked right into the seal under vacuum.

    272 new build low compression

Something wrong, I believe on the verboten site you claimed that your compression tested reads normally on your other saws? Does your comp tester have a shrader valve at the tip where it screws into the plug hole? AM usually don’t compare with oem, but Hyway is actually not as bad as others...
