Looking for large battery chainsaw to replace one of mine.

Echo, in terms of performance compared to a 2-stroke chainsaw!

Looking for large battery chainsaw to replace one of mine.

I think it would be worth looking into the EGO 56Volt system. They offer battery packs of up to 12Ah. I got me a defective EGO battery and it is too nice to tear down for cell salvage. Yes, the EGO 56V is huge, but it also packs a bunch of energy. The EGO system products don't seem to be...

Looking for large battery chainsaw to replace one of mine.

I have a couple "dead" Makita 36Volt battery packs that I need to inspect. I am not looking forward to it as the innards feature circuitry on four sides of the stacked cells. The 14.4 & 18Volt Makita battery packs that I opened so far were built simple, easy disassembly and access to the cells.

Looking for large battery chainsaw to replace one of mine.

DISCLAIMER: Unless You know EXACTLY what You are doing and getting into DO NOT MESS WITH LITHIUM ION BATTERY PACKS, especially any beyond 40Volt!!! That been said, unless all Your defective Redback batteries have a defective BMS (power output and charge control circuitry) they can be rebuilt...

    Carbide Chain

Hello Philbert Apologies for not having more extensive info to share. I haven't utilized my carbide chains for a couple years, but I am anxious to resume their usage. :)

    Carbide Chain

Hello I own three Carbide chains: - an affordable AM loop, that I have yet to try - a Stihl Picco Duro 3 ( 3/8" LowProfile Semi Chisel), still sharp, cuts great - a Stihl Rapid Duro 3 ( 3/8" Semi Chisel), ran it for many tanks full of fuel, cut great while factory ground sharp I bucked dozens...

    90cc 20inch bar?

Local loggers (Croatia) run 18" 3/8" B&C's on 661's and 462's. They do not utilize longer bars! They were literally shocked seeing me noodle large diameter 40" long preprocessed beech firewood with my PS-7900 and 36" 3/8" B&C. Go with what feels comfortable to You.

    Chainsaw Bar worn out?

I did not read all the replies so this may have been stated already. The bar rails may be worn down so far that the chains drive links bottom out in the bars groove. That will make a brand new chain cut crooked. As far as bar rail dressing goes, get a cheap bar dresser off eBay, or if You are...

    Makita 7300 vs 565 vs 372xp

Damn! At that price tag I'd have a couple of those in my herd.

    Sharpening chain and efficiency?

Try an Archer FastFiler roller guide, I like them a lot - takes about 10 minutes for a 72DL full complement loop touch up. It will generate nearly identical cutter lengths and angles.

    Makita 7300 vs 565 vs 372xp

Are You using saws commercially? If not why worry about failures on a new saw!? Feed her a healthy fuel mix with quality oil tuned right and keep Your chains sharp and that 7300 will serve You years to come. 7300/7310 parts should remain available for a fair while, simply stock up on the...

    Makita EA5600 handle swap

The clutch cover upgrade was my discovery, prototype testing was done by my good friend @SOS Ridgerider as he managed to get all needed parts faster than I. Why would You want to swap over the handle bar from the 6100 to the 5600? I see nothing wrong with the 5600 handle. Yes, MM the 5600, she...

    038 missing chain tensioner parts

I looked through my pictures, it seems I didn't take a picture of the one I made. But as @HarleyT posted, it is a simple piece of plastic with little to it.

Most efficient chain grind / gage

.325" features more teeth/cutters on the same cutting length than 3/8" does. More teeth = more resistance. Also, 3/8" LowProfile generates a more narrow kerf than .325" does. You wrote You don't care about the volume of the chip pile, but that is what makes all the difference - removing lesser...

    038 missing chain tensioner parts

Part number 4, the "clamp", is a small piece of nylon/plastic which holds the "adjusting screw" part number 2 down. I made one for my neighbors 038AV. He lost the "clamp" and it caused the "adjusting screw" part number 2 to bend so much it couldn't be turned more than 1/4 turn forth and back. I...

    Greasing bars

The consensus is that if You start greasing Your bars sprocket then You must keep doing it. Reason is the grease creates a barrier that the B&C oil can not get past. Generally the bars sprocket gets lubricated by the B&C oil and greasing is not necessary!

    Makita 7900 or 6400

This! I have four of these, all factory stock. PS-6400 has AM piston kit no MM, the PS-7300/7310/7900 are factory original and have a mild MM. PS-6400 & PS-7900 do not have a DeCo, PS-7300 & PS-7310 do. Different years of manufacturing. Different, even unknown runtime on each. They all behave...

    Bar replacement time?

My 2001. Dolmar PS-6400 is in use since 2006. and I am still running the factory original bar. I deepend the groove twice at the bars tail end, I dress the rails whenever they need dressing. The bar is originally .058" gauge, it will fit a .063" chain but runs a .058" perfectly fine. Age is not...
