    Noobie Needs Help...

noodling is faster than ripping. I noodle larger pieces I don't want to try to lift or ones with large knots in them. Keep the chain out of the dirt and don't hit metal with it and you should be ok...and always make sure there is bar oil in it!

    HF Enigine Parts

reaperman...after doing some digging, I found the same thing. All the honda parts will fit the clones right down to the carb kit! And, yes, the Honda recoils, according to the go-kart forums, are tougher and less likely to detonate! I think I'll be buying 2 just in case!

    HF Enigine Parts

Hey there, does anyone know how to get parts for the BLUE HF engines? My pull starter broke and while trying to fix it, parts went missing!! I just want to buy a whole new assembly but don't know where to look. Will Honda parts fit it? It's a 6.5hp. Any help would be great.

    bug control question

One of my wood piles is by house, actually against the back of the garage. It is t1-11 sided, so yeah, I spray that wood pile if I notice bugs I don't getting into the house. The ones out in the woods I leave untreated. Birds and toads will take care of anything out there. One thing I do...

    Favorite campfire wood?

I use the low grade trees I don't put thru my wood burner unless I have to. Cottonwood, poplar...and some soft maple because the property has a ton of it....but from the sounds of it, the box elders around might be cut up for the hunting camp camp fires! Black Walnut is NOT a good campfire...

    Walnut opinions

I have a bunch of it, and yeah, it doesn't coal too well. It does burn hot, but man does it pop and spit embers everywhere! If you have it, burn it! I thought I was about done heating too...and the cold weather came back! Hopefully it will be warm again in a couple of days and you can mix...

    What do you do

to get the right length of round, I use my saw. I put the back of the felling dogs on the cut end, and where the back of the handle ends is where I cut...it's easy to just spin the saw by the top handle and it lines up pretty much right where you want it. I also make space to get my trailer...

    Makita 6401 for $180?

Ed, all the Home Depot's that have a tool rental shop should have them. I think they keep them 2-3 years as rentals then sell them off and get new ones. As you live a long ways away from a store, I'd call to find out if they have any they are selling. They are great saws at a crazy price...

    Makita 6401 for $180?

$260 is a lot for a HD saw, not saying it isn't worth it...it is, for sure...it's just more than I've seen any others go for. The difference in price between the two will almost pay for the piston/cylinder upgrade, if you choose do it. Remember to try to get as much from them in way of...

    Wood Splitter Down On Power

While it is most likely the pump being to big for the engine, it COULD be a dirty or out of tune carb. A carb will function well enough at no load WOT, but when a load is introduced it can bog down/sputter. I would go with a 2 stage pump based on the size cylinder/stroke you have I would...

    sharpening frequency?

If I don't hit anything that isn't wood with it, it will usually go every other tank...and then it's just a couple quick hits to each tooth and then back at it. I cut mostly ash/maple/oak with some hickory and elm thrown in for fun.

    Basement heat

Wood stove is in the basement...works great. We removed the wall going into the basement from the main floor and put railings in. It really helps get the heat throughout the house. We also don't have a door going to the basement....for now. We just had a baby, so I think the door will be...

Jotul not throwing as much heat after gasket replacement...

My guess is that you were over firing your stove. You closed the air gaps that let extra air in making it burn hotter, but for a shorter time. My guess you are burning it how the manufacturer designed it to burn. When I replaced all my gaskets I had the same issue...so I pulled out a bit...

    Makita 6401 for $180?

Buy it and smile all the way home!! I now own two of them...one is 3 years old and runs great, the other one I just picked up from HD 2 weeks ago. Here are a couple of things to consider: Different stores will offer different prices and throw in different stuff - I paid $220 and $205...

    Replacement Door Glass?

I tried to find it at my local glass shops and they only did glass for ovens, so I then tried my local wood stove store. My stove is older and they didn't carry it...so I had to order it online. I used A1 Glass and it fit fine, looks good....no issues at all. Just wish I had bought a...

Can Firewood ever get to dry?

I could see it maybe if you were living in the desert where there is no relative humidity. because there is always (at least around here) moisture in the air, I think you will always have moisture in your wood. That is given it is covered and stacked. I've burned punky wood in bon fires and...

    ATV ?'s

I bought a 2001 Yamaha Big Bear used. It has a shaft drive and gears. No belt or auto tranny to mess with. A friend had an older Big Bear that was a 350, mine is a 400. His had a 2 speed transfer case, which was nice in the snow when pulling a lot of weight. Mine just has an ultra low...

    It's all of your fault!!

It looks like it's contagious too! I was telling my dad about it and he went to the HD by him and found one. Try to decide if he should pull the trigger or not. They have a couple! With a couple of extra chains to boot!

    It's all of your fault!!

Not really looking to place blame...I just bought another saw...my 5th. When I first came to this site I had just bought my first! I now have 2 perfectly running Makita DCS6401's and am trying to decide which one needs to be torn down to put the 84cc big bore kit on. Then, of course, comes...
