    Question for the Dolmar folks

Have you bought the saw yet? Around here, once they get put on the shelf for sale to the public, they don't last very long. You can get replacement top covers in black from Nate to replace the ugly grey covers that come stock on them. Normally that's all you'll need to spiff them back up...

    Question for the Dolmar folks

How do you get them uncrimped? Maybe a pic of the tools that you use and the general process?

    Question for the Dolmar folks

The existing carb will be just fine with the 7910 top end. I just did one of these saws (6421 to 7910) last month the same way. A stated there are three flavors, and they all use the same carb. The muffler was a different story for me. Uncrimping and pulling out the catalytic guts proved to...

For sure. The extra $40 is cheap insurance for genuine OEM parts.

    Question for the Dolmar folks

One other p.s. to keep in mind.... The Home Depot Tool Rental Managers have quite a bit of flexibility in how they price these rental saws to get them moved out the door. It'd be worth it to see if he'll knock a few more dollars off the price to offset the price of OEM parts for your rebuild...

    Question for the Dolmar folks

That is an aftermarket kit. Nothing overly wrong with it, but if you send @fordf150 a PM, he'll be able to price you out an OEM option that will be better in the long run. An OEM 7910 piston and cylinder will bolt right up to your 6421.

Rebuild a pooched 461 or buy used 661?

Pictures of the pieces would help a lot towards steering advice.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Holy cow! I had no idea that beavers got that big. Are they good for anything besides killing? Can ya' eat 'em? Fur value? Leather?

They do look awesome. We're getting close here. Was a little cool yesterday and today with the showers, but we have daffodils in flower in the yard. Won't be long now for shorts and flip flops.
