Some Advice About an 026 Please..

When you pull and inspect it, does it look like this: if so, it's fried. This is an MS260 cylinder and piston that I ruined. My own sordid saga from 2006 can be found here: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=40690

    Help choosing a new saw

My first question would be how often will you need a bigger saw? You posted in Homeowner Helper section: will you be using a larger bore saw enough to justify the cost? Saying that around here is anathema, I know, but it just seems to make sense. I too have a small-ish 260 pro...and it's fine...

    Need axe recommendation

Well, I buy the best tools I can. Once. I suspect you probably do too. At least you understand the idea behind it.

    Need axe recommendation

Gransfors Bruks Large Splitting Axe There are hardware store, garden variety axes, and then there are the Swedes. Gransfors Bruks and Wetterlings are the kings. (They source their steel from the same maker, by the way). Mine is made by Rune Andersson, and i can tell that because he stamped his...

    Leveraxe

Where's the sign-up sheet. I looked this guy's site up on the internet. I too, don' t read Finnish, but would love to try this thing out here in the PNW, where we split mostly fir & alder. How can I get on the list? James

Pickeroon - The Poor Man's Skidder

that's intriguing... I was looking at solving the same problem here in the PNW, because we have so much downed wood from the storms that ravaged the coastal areas between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I too, have to move downed trees through the woods and am sick and oh so tired of lugging...

    Question about dogwood trees...

Hey thank you both. I'll look into it this weekend. the Japanese one sounds lovely...My G/F and I will enjoy planting it in the coming weeks. I would never have thought the cool winter months to be a good time for planting/transplanting... Again, thanks forthe advice, and sorry I posted it...

    Question about dogwood trees...

Our place is called "Bad Dog Wood." sort of a pun. a bad one. we have a dog...well, we had a dog. a much loved one named Louis. He died just before Christmas and we're still pretty bent up about it... We'd like to plant a dogwood tree here on the property, but I'm wondering if you...

    Scandinavian Splitting Axes

Gransfors Large Splitting Axe. I swear by the Gransfors Large splitting axe. Here's a review I wrote for the product on Amazon.com: well, I was going to include an html link, but the link is too long. Here's what I said: First of all, there are hardware store, garden variety axes, and...

Does the octane in gas evaporate? Really?

Alright. I took everyone's advice and am only using fuel less than a month old. Standard Stihl 2-stroke engine oil and some 93-octane from the local filling station. But if I keep some of the mix in a rubber gasket sealed aluminum fuel bottle, will the gas degrade? (I'm guessing no) Could I...

    Maul/Axe for Splitting Eucalyptus

We don't have Eucalyptus trees here in the upper left hand corner of the US. Is there something different about the wood that would necessitate a different maul/axe? James

ms 361. Check this out. pics

    Plantskydd

Spray and Run! I've used both the spray bottle stuff and the mix it yourself power form of Plantskyyd. The stuff is totally vile, but it really works. the deer don't come near it for about three weeks here in rainy Washington. I found that the liquid form smells the worst when it's had a...

    Missing a few boys tonite

Here in the San Juans, it's snowing quite hard. Big, flakes, taking their time to fall. Last night about half the island was without power, the boyz were out repairing the lines that had fallen. Quiet. Still. I think I'll go outside and listen to the stillness... ...and then fire up a...

    fuel/oil caps

I kinda knew I'd get a response on that one... I like the flip caps. I just turn the saw on it's side, and carefully fill it up. I guess my saw isn't totally "filled", but that's okay by me. Rather not spill...not in a hurry.... I'm just careful to keep debris out of both chambers...

    fuel/oil caps

Y'all just a bunch of "old dogs.." I don't have anywhere near the experience you all do, but I don't have the overfill habit either. Think you all can manage to learn a new trick? Don't overfill your oil reservoir. I've got a flip cap, and I don't overfill. No problems. (knock on wood)...

Different method of falling a tree

Whoa....that's really weird. Whoa. That's really weird. Explain. What do you mean, "really bad trees." What could necessitate that particular technique? Wouldn't a faller lose control? Wha....wha....??? Bizarre. James:jawdrop:

    Best way to stack wood

About a Holz Hausen Yep. I keep my wood in one. Here's a pic: They're a bit tricky, the wide angle lens distorts this one a bit. Mine is about 8 feet around by about 7 feet high. Around 2 cords of wood in there. The reason they're tricky is that they're tempermental to build. They...
