Anyone hear of this happening?
On a previous post a fellow A.S. member said that sparks were caused by lack of lubrication. I have a PS7900 that never sparked before, installed a 32" bar to chew through some cottonwood, sparks galore, in oak it was OK. Are the sparks due to sand in the bark? A longtime wood cutter once told...
Sorry but the second week is the best week, all the dumb hunters and dumb deer are gone, for those of you that don't go out on fishing opener this is X1000. Trophy bucks are my agenda:clap:
A GTG is nice, fall could be hard to do. I live in Forest
Lake, about 45 min away. Going up grouse hunting this weekend, Nov 3rd is MN opener I hunt in zone 1, thats two weeks long, after that is WI opener. I believe that is a sanctioned holiday there as well, correct?
Looks like HUM Bugs (hydrocarbon utilizing micro-organisims). Really, they do exist, when I was in Saudi Arabia for Dessert Storm they were a royal PITA. They would grow inside fuel injection pumps and raise all kinds of problems. They live in water molecules and eat hydrocarbons. Drain your...
Just asking because I already have a PS-5100s and a PS-7900. Just wandered into a store the other day and found a NIB 372XP w/24"b&c for $525.
The price looks good but if I cut some larger stuff the 7900 can handle it without issue so it realy is harder to justify a less powerfull saw that...
as for your chain loosening up so fast, you might want to take a good look at your drive sprocket. If it is badly grooved it will look like chain stretch as the drive links on the chain and sprocket wear to fit each other.
Reminds me of a saying that concealed weapons instructers use, "rule number one in a gunfight: Have a gun.
Meaning, buy something that you will actually have on your person when you need it.
I hear people on this site talk of race chain. Is this something you buy, or do you start with a chisel chain and regrind it? I did a search and did not find instructions on how to make it or where to get some.
ddhlakebound,
the hinge is what is the problem, probably 3" on each side no more it will be dropped on gravel so no pavment issues. My drop zone is about 10 deg to either side. I will try to get some pics this weekend to give everyone a better picture
Hi All,
At my local gun range we have a white oak that most definatley needs to come down. It is about 60 ft high, 30" dbh, the problem is that the trunk is severely rotted, there is a section of trunk that has no bark and is rotted, my pocket knife digs in easily. the section is 8' high and...
I tried some on a few rounds of seasoned walnut. It cut about as fast as a new Stihl chain and seemed to be a little smoother on the vibes. BTW the walnut was four years old, the bark had been removed and it was HARD
HE HE I picked mine up as a demo $275, was so low that I bought a PS-7900 also. Finally had the opportunity to try them out, WOW ! I was running thru some 30"dia cottonwood that was dropped in June, the 7900 has scary amounts of power. But the 5100 will get most of the run time, for its size it...
Just purchased a PS-7900 it was new, but it has an older style orange cover. What are the diffrences between that and the current black cover , other than the color?
I had heard that gas, once mixed was only good for 30 days, stabilizer didn't matter. I do know that after two months, the Stihl oil, with stabilizer is getting old. The saw starts, but it smokes more and is definatley cold blooded.
